PS3 is The amazing device by sony but it has some common problems like Disc read error, unreadable disc etc.... Good news is that these all problems can be repaired with the help of DIY Guides, one such guide available at PS3 Repair Blog

Open up the PS3 and then the Blu-Ray Drive and then clean the lens with rubbing alcohol or isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip. I heard that lighter fluid works way better than rubbing alcohol or isopropyl alcohol, so try it. I'm not responsible for any damages to your console.
