OS X 10.4.10 Stuck Loop

Hi, I installed Avid Free on my OS X 10.4.10 the results of this were catastrophic, my mac got into a loop, it would get to the icons on desktop and then go back to black.
What to do? Is there a problem with the avid or the 10.4.10 operating system?

Thank you.

I run Avid on my mac and have not experienced what you describe. Avid uses a lot of memory. The first thing I'd look at is do you have enough memory to run the OS and Avid. If that is OK check your screen res' (the system normally warns you if that is incorrect) If you have the install software try uninstalling and re-install to see if that helps.

It does not sound like a OS problem.

Paul

During install of Vista Service Pack 2, Dell laptop gets to Installing 3 of 3 27% complete then reboots. Gets to same point and reboots again. Seems to be stuck in loop. What to do?

Hi,

Do not install again allow your computer define the update for the Vista Service Pack 2 online. This would be better option for you.

Kind Regards

As you are accessing the internet you must have another computer. If so, remove your hard drive install as slave in the other machine backup your data and reformat. If you do't have another machine maybe a friend could help.

  1. Shut down your Mac by holding down the power on button for 5 seconds or so..
  2. Power on your Mac and VERY QUICKLY press down on the mouse button and hold it down until your CD ejects.
  3. Now, insert your Disk 1 and reboot the Mac on this installer disk and don't forget to choose option 2 disks only...

Mac OS X Update Problem

Hi MerryAnn
To answer this one I'd need a bit more info. What mac are you installing it on? What version are you upgrading from? and how much memory (ram) do you have on board?

I assume you are not doing a 'erase and install' as the mac would not function any more if it got stuck halfway.

If all the other questions are OK with the OS version you are trying to install. Where possible you should do a clean install. Just make sure you back all your data up first.
