Flashes of standby light is fault indication. Count it and confirm the number of flashes occurs at one time switch ON. If you wish to get more details about these blinking codes to Toshiba sets, check this link. Pull up older posts there.

What's your problem? won't turn on..... yellow/orange light continually flashes three times...

Toshiba Regza 37in - 37HL17
TV will not turn on - Yellow power ind. Light blinks three times...
Fixed with a firmware update (hard to believe, but true). Search Google for a file named: 2007SEN069.zip (don't worry if the page you find it on doesn't mention the 37HL17 - it worked fine). Unzip the file, and copy the 3 folders and 3 files to the root of a small SD card. The SD card MUST be 2GB or less in size (I used a 1GB card), and it MUST be formatted with FAT-16 (not FAT-32). Mine was pre-formatted as FAT (FAT-16). The SD port is on the back of the TV behind a cover plate near the power cable. You do NOT need to remove the back cover of the TV, just the small cover plate (1 screw). UNPLUG the TV; remove the cover plate; insert the SD card (prepped as explained above); Plug in the TV; Watch the yellow lights blink, then turn blue, then go dark; UNPLUG the TV; remove the SD Card and replace the cover; Plug in the TV; Yellow lights will blink a few times (this is normal); when blinking stops, turn on the TV and you should be good to go. :-)

I want to program my oneforall universal remote to my toshiba tv

Hello
To programme your Toshiba TV with One for all URC 5800 Cenema 5+ remote as follows.

[1] Turn on your TV

[2] On the Cinema 5, press TV and release. Press

and hold SETUP until the red light blinks twice,
then release SETUP

[3] Enter the first four-digit TV code listed for your

brand. If performed correctly, the red light will blink
twice when you enter the final digit

[4] Aim the Cinema 5 at your TV and press POWER.

The TV should turn off. If it does not respond,

repeat steps 2-4, trying each code listed for your

brand until you find the one that operates your TV.

NOTE: If you have tried all the codes listed for

your brand and your TV does not respond, try
using "SEARCHING FOR YOUR CODE".
The codes for Toshiba are:
0156, 0060, 0154
OK.

You will need to trouble shoot the start up and shutdown circuits. Often this is a minor component failing causing the set to not power up or go into protective shutdown. Do you have the service manual for this TV?

TV is not powering up and red light keeps flashing

I had the same red blinking led problem on my Toshiba Theaterview tv. I resolved by:
- Unplugging the tv.
- Press several times (3 or 4 times) the tv Power button.
- Plug the tv back in and press the Power button once to turn the tv on....tv worked!!!

I've had the problem before and tried unplugging the tv for a couple of days and that had also worked, but I this recent solution seems to be faster.
Good luck!
Erick
