Does mac users also need an anti virus software program on their Mac

There is malware about but Safari has that covered. I use Bitdefender to keep the system clean but Yosemite and newer doesn't need anti virus.
All updates are free so why would anyone choose to pay for newer software, like windows 10!
Sierra is the latest OS and that is free to Mac owners.

I think a virus came through my yahoo acct. How do I fix it?

Depending on your OS and revision, its possible, but probably not a virus. You might have downloaded a Windows virus, which would only affect any Windows PCs that come in to contact with your system.

Whether or not you have, in fact, a virus on your Mac, I recommend getting an Anti-Virus program.

Check out Sophos.com. They have a free version that is fully functional. They usual suspects have Mac versions, too... Symantec and McAfee.

Once installed, do a full scan to see if any viruses are detected, and take appropriate action.

I can not download my pictures to my computer. My computer has windows 7 system. My camera is ZD8612IS.

Greetings Noellantana,
  1. Close all software applications that are open on your computer (including anti-virus software).
  2. Place the EasyShare software CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  3. Load the software:
    Windows OS
if the install window does not appear, choose Run from the Start menu and type d:\setup.exe where d is the drive letter that contains the CD.
    Mac OS X
double-click the CD icon on the desktop, then click the Install icon.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.
  5. If prompted, restart the computer. If you turned off anti-virus software, turn it back on. See the anti-virus software manual for details.
For more information, please refer to the official manual: Manual

Thank you for using FixYa! =) Please rate.

Looking for anti virus for Apple mac os 9.2

Mac, like linux, does not often get viruses and anti-virus software would pretty much be useless. Virus developers don't target Mac or Linux OS'es because not enough people use them. To do so would be a waste of their time.

I have a Mac 450Mhz Power PC G4 with OS X 10.4.11. and 1.75 GB SDRAM. It runs incredibly slow. We have downloaded many songs from Limewire. I just heard that MACs need antivirus and anti spyware...

Well, there are a variety of reasons that can consequently drag down the performance of your Mac. Meanwhile, there are certain ways through which you can considerably speed up your Mac machine. For example, you can reset the browser settings to regularly clear useless caches and history, get rid of all unwanted widgets from the dashboard through the Dashboard control panel, remove unnecessary applications, find out & delete those duplicated files, or if your Mac is running out of memory, try upgrading the system RAM to boost its performance etc. However, if you prefer a more efficient way to speed up your Mac, try the following all-in-one Mac speedup tool as it can help resolve all issues in just a few clicks.

I recommend to instal McAfee VirusScan for Mac. McAfee VirusScan for Mac includes detections for exploits, viruses, trojans, worms, and spyware that threatens Macs, PCs, and Unix systems. On access scanning provides realtime protection while drag and drop scanning facilitates a quick check of newly downloaded files. McAfee VirusScan for Mac retails for approximately $37 per license with discounts for bulk purchases
