Distinctive ring option

I recently bought D-Link modem (DFM-562IS). Everything is working correctly
except for "distinctive ring" option which doesn't exist. I can see that
disctinctive ring option is enabled in modems driver .inf file but that
particular "tab" in modem's properties just doesn't display at all. I really
need that option cause I'm using this modem primarily for fax
receiving/sending and have dual phone number on one phone line. Can anyone
offer any suggestions?

No, the problem is ENTIRELY with Windows XP which, like Windows 2000, does
NOT support Distinctive Ring like Windows 95/98/ME all do:

Thanks for help everyone :-) I've tried "Pigeon Mail 'n Fax" so far and also Ventafax software but none of them work properly cause options for ring that they offer are different from what I have. Does that have anything to do with "dron droff" instead of "ring" that my modem produces? Because I think software should ignore this and try to recognize rings separately from modem.

I'm afraid you're out of luck with distinctive ring and the XP fax program. There are commercial programs
you can purchase, VentaFax is one http://www.ventafax.com/keyfea tures-more.html#distring and I'm sure there
are others.

Fred,

I am using Symantec Winfax program but it requires distinctive ring option
to be enabled in modem's properties to work properly... so I guess problem
is mostly with modem :-)
