Question about VIA P4MA Motherboard
Hi and thank you for your responce
Your 1st recommendation appears to have amended my first fault, well the question mark has disappeared at the moment anyhow.
I do not understand what I need to do to clear my firewire fault and was wondering if you could break down your recommendation further, I clicked on the link as requested and only broucher and picture images appeared? Do I need to purchase a new chip and have it installed or is there a download to solve the problem?
I'm not much of a wiz kid with computer faults and only I'm only used to pressing Windows Explorer so please bear with me?
Your help is appriciated thanks
The first set of drivers contains the PCI drivers, USB drivers, AGP slot, as well as few others. That set will initialize the PCI controller to work. Your Firewire card won't work until that gets installed.
Once that is complete, you need to install the firewire drivers. That is what the second like is all about. Once that is installed, restart your computer and it should be working again. If the drivers aren't working from the second link, you may need to purchase a new Firewire card for your computer.
Usually when you install the 4 in 1 drivers, the computer will look at the existing hardware plugged into the the computer and try to install drivers off of that using plug and play. If it doesn't find them, it will look for the CD that came with your computer or hardware device.

Types of High Speed USB (USB 2.0) Host Controllers
· Intel Enhanced

· VIA Enhanced
· ALi Enhanced
· Standard Enhanced
· NEC Enhanced
The system shown has onboard Intel High Speed USB (USB 2.0) with an NEC High Speed USB (USB 2.0) PCI card installed.
The key word is ENHANCED. If you have an ENHANCED USB Host Controller then you have High Speed USB (USB 2.0)
All other types are USB v.1.1
hope this helps
