Wont start. where is the thermal fuse?

The schematic does not say physically WHERE the items are located.

I found TWO in the heating element circuit located on the side of the heating element cover. But I'm not sure where the third one is.

ONE is identified as a thermal fuse (blows once and stays open forever) on the schematic. The other two are identified in words and by their symbol as thermostats, they'll open at temp & re-close after cooling.

I replace the two on the side of the heating element cover once but the dryer is not working again. One of those two shows open, so I know that one is bad. But I want to check the third item & don't know where it is!

The thermal fuse should be connected to and near the heating element. Check the paper electrical diagram, taped on the inside of the dryer.

Amana dryer model YNED7200TW will not start. there is power, but start button does nothing. Resetting breaker did not work. Any ideas?

Thermal Fuse

Item #2986 (OEM Part)

Thermal fuse. If the dryer overheats, this device stops the flow of electricity to the heat source and/or the entire dryer. It is located on the blower housing and cannot be reset. The most common cause for overheating is a vent tube clogged with lint, a birds nest or other debris.

Where is the fuse at for kenmore 96284100

There is no fuse in the dryer itself. The only fuse(or circuit breaker)will be locked in your hope power panel.

Lights turn on but dryer wont start

The problem is likely a blown thermal fuse. Disconnect power then access and bypass the thermal fuse on the blower housing. The blower housing is located on the front left bottom of the dryer cabinet if the dryer has the lint filter on the front or at the rear left bottom if the lint filter is located on the top of the cabinet.
Dryers with lint filter on the front.

Dryers with lint filter on the top.

Bypass the thermal fuse by disconnecting the wires and connecting them together. Insulate them properly and plug the dryer back in. The thermal fuse is indeed blown and needs to be replaced if the dryer starts. Do not use the dryer with the thermal fuse bypassed due to fire hazards.

Let us know if the problem is not addressed above but indicate the exact model number of the machine for further advice.

Kenmore electric dryer Model #66512692 makes a clicking noise when push start. Cleaned out so there is no air blockage and still will not start.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

When the Thermal fuse of the dryer goes bad it wont turn on or will make clicking noise as it is doing right now. You can check the thermal fuse for continuity, if it is open then the thermal fuse needs replacement however, if the fuse tests continuity then check the control board (if that is bad then it needs replacement). Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Kenmore dryer model 64602 wont turn on???

Check the thermal fuse on the rear of the dryer.
Remove the rear panel. The thermal fuse is 1 and 1/2 inches long by 1/2 inch wide. White in color and located just left of the dryer exhaust vent. 2 purple wires. Jump the wires together and start the dryer. If it runs, replace the thermal fuse.

Dryer does not heat

Check the thermal cut-off, the thermostat, and the heating element. Most times one of the tree is the culprit.

I have seen a bad timer cause the no heat problem a few times but 99% of the time it is one of the three I mentioned.

If you change the thermal cut-off make sure you get both the cut-off and the thermostat. A stuck T-stat will take out a cut-off in a big hurry.
