DVDR615 will record but when I click browser button it shows disctray but resolutely refuses to show what's on the disc except on rare occasions when it will condescend to show the required information. Then it can only be persuaded to play the recorded material after a good de4al of effort. It also assures me it is "busy",what it's busy at I don't know since I haven't asked it to do anything.Any suggestions?

Hello Alexander549:

The recommended recordable Dvd discs for that unit are
Dvd +R
SONY:
2.4X, 4X, 8X, and 16X

Tdk: 4X
DVD+RW
SONY: 2.4X

TDK: 2.4X
PHILIPS: 4X
DVDR+R (DL)
MAXELL: 2.4X

Also you can try to reset the unit. But doing this will erase all of the information on the unit I.e. clock and timer information.
Disconnect the DVD Recorder from the electrical outlet. Press and hold down the Standby on button (Power on button) on the front of the Recorder while reconnecting to the electrical outlet. Continue holding the Standby on button for 5 seconds after unit is plugged back in. Release Standby on button (Power on button) when you see "IS TV ON?" in the display window on the dvdr.

There is also a software update that you may want to try on the Philips web site and that site is www.p4c.philips.com enter in the model number then look for a sub menu labeled software and drivers there is step by step instruction for downloading the software there.

Try a manual recording:

Manual record.

  1. Insert a recordable 'DVD+R(W)' disc.

  2. Select on the recorder the program/channel number or EXT/AV input to record from.

  3. From the disc menu select an empty title or a title you would like to record over.

  4. Press 'RECORD' or remote 'REC/OTR' button to start recording.

  5. Press 'STOP' to stop recording.

If you're experiencing that issue with different type/brand of discs, then you're having problem with the lens. Try cleaning it using a CD Lens cleaner.

It's a common issue for all equipments that have optical drives (example: PS2 / PS3 / XBOX / DVD), the lens die and you need to have it replaced or purchase a new player whichever costs you less.

Try first using another DISC to record with if possible try a different brand because sometimes it also has something to do with the compatibility of the recorder and the Disc..

Hope that helps............

Buy a cleaner for the player. before running the cleaner unplug the component for about 20 seconds, plug it back in ,run the cleaner.
that should do the trick.

No disc kicks disc out

I have the problem of it refusing the disc if the door opens before I have filled the whole disc and finalized it. As long as I don't open the door till the disc is full and finalized, it works.

Dvd door will not open

with the unit turned off press and hold "8", and then press "x" on the unit until "unlocked" appears on the screen.

This is from page 83 of the manual regarding tray lock feature.

Sony F55 Recorded Display

The filename (e.g. DSC0012.jpg) shows the image number, the filespec shows the date and time recorded. Most software will give you document info about resolution of the image. I wouldn't worry about what the battery status was when the shot was taken or how many other images were on the Mstick. I guess I'm not sure what you need.
