You did not mention the brand and model of the TV so it is unlikely we can answer your question.

If the TV is equipped with outputs for audio and video or a composite output, this should be difficult.
Many sets of all kinds involved with A/V use a fairly standard set of color coded in/outputs to simplify interconnecting them.

We'll try again; I downloaded what was called a 'manual' - it isn't. More of a sales brochure (= useless)

Please give me the following info:

    - Are you in North America?

    - Your signal source: Satellite? Antenna? Cable?

    - Which input are you using on the Sony TV? Is it plugged into a mating connector or is it screwed on?

    - Is there a threaded connector on the back of the Phillips?

    - If not, please describe what is available there and, if present, include the markings that belong to each connector.

Although less desirable than some connections, if you can attach the receiver (output) to the VCR input (this would be the screw type connector on each), then, the same type from the VCR to the TV, you would have to set the TV's input channel to 3 or 4 (could be either) to view what is coming from the VCR and the VCR's tuner (selected for source) would then have access to the output of the receiver which would allow you to record what you are currently viewing.

Lost manual. Cannot get HR A591U JVC VCR program to record a future cable tv program. Seems I have tried everything but it does not record as I set up. It will record an existing show by pressing...

Timer Recording JVC VCR HR A591U
Timer recording can be programmed on-screen with
the remote control. The built-in timer allows automatic
unattended recording of up to 8 programs within 1
month.

EXAMPLE: Program a timer recording for the 26th day,
channel 125 (CATV), 11:00 - 11:30 PM on timer program
number 1 (Tape speed: EP).

When a TV is connected with an audio/video cable, turn the
TV and this VCR on and select the video input mode on the
TV.

• After timer recording is completed, the VCR turns off
automatically.
• You can program the timer recording while a regular
recording is in progress; the menu screens will not be
recorded.
• The timer recording will start at 20 seconds before the time
you predetermined.

Press MENU on the Remote.
Check the “TIMER REC SET”
option is selected, then press
ENTER.

Press SET –/+ to select one of
the program lines, then press
ENTER.

Press SET –/+ to select the
date, then press ENTER.

Set the start time, end time,
channel and tape speed as in
step 3.
NOTE: To record from external
source, press SET –/+
and set the channel to
"L". "L" will appear next
to CH 125 (or 69).

To enter other programs,
repeat step 2 through 4. Or,
press MENU twice to return
to the normal screen.

Press TIMER on the Remote.
The power will go off, the
TIMER REC indicator ( ) will
light and the VCR stands by
for recording.

To cancel a program:

Press the SET –/+ to select the
“TIMER REC SET” option in the
MENU. Then press SET –/+ to
select the unnecessary program,
and press CANCEL to cancel the
program.

I MISPLACED MY USER MANUAL

You have to go the main menu and select record times, and day. Make sure you leave your tv set on, and on the channel that you wish to record the program on. You can set the start and stop times a few minutes before and after on the vcr, just to make sure you get the whole program. You can also set the vcr to record this program every day, any day of when ever you wish you can just manually hit "record on the vcr remote. Good luck, let me know how you make out! Thanks

DMR E55 timer recording won't work

Your recorder doesn´t have a digital tuner, let alone an HD one. You can record digital programs via your TV tuner if it gives a signal out. Connect your TV to AV1 or AV2 on your recorder and program the recorder to record from the one you chose. You must program the TV separately (I don´t know if this is possible on your TV) or leave it on and on the channel you want to record.

Recorded programs in english come out in Spanish

Make sure your TV hasn't been set for SAP (you'll find it in the audio settings menu). Second audio programming is often used to carry alternate languages, and if it's turned on you won't know it until you watch a program where it's being used. There may be a single button labeled SAP on the remote. If so, it's easy to change the TV setting without realizing it.

Problem with DISH DVR 625

You can accomplish this by either going to the specific TV and selecting the record option at the time the program is about to come on or you can press menu-8-5 and change the record preferences. You can either set the DVR to record programs to the TV2 location by default or TV1 by enabling the record plus feature. In dual mode without record plus enabled all programs you select to record default to the tuner you are viewing e,g, if watching tv1 and selecting to record a program in the future it will record to the tv1 location. In single mode all recordings default to tv2 so you can continue to watch live tv from tv1. I hope this answers your question and thanks for using Fix Ya. Let me know if I can further assist you.

Problem seems to be related to the "write protect" tab on the tape not being sensed. Is the tab removed? That would explain things there...accordianman
