I have a 1985 Honda Civic which I installed a Sony CDX-GT260 Car Stereo 50Wx4. I hooked up 2 Kenwood speakers sitting in oval boxes on the parcel tray above back seat in addition to the 2 in front doors. Sound is OK but I wish it was a but "fuller" with a richer base. Someone said fit an amplifier under the seat. Will this help and / or other guidance please.

First of all please check if the speakers are connected in phase. That is if all the positive and negative terminals are connected OK. Simple way to check is to turn the fader control first to the rear and then while playing some music with heavy beat ( dance music ) turn the balance to one side. Listen and see if you are getting good bass. Then turn the balance and bring it to the middle ( 0 ), when you do that if the bass is becoming flat-- one of your back speakers are out of phase and canceling bass. If thery are in phase the bass should become full and rich. Do the same by turning the fader to the front and try swinging the balance. If all is Ok , yes you will need an Amplifier to satisfy you. Make sure you buy something that can match the power of the speakers you have installed in the car.
The out of phase syndrome is a very common problem.

I have had a kenwood 50wx4 stereo head unit installed in my car for about a year now and have had no problems using any function on the system. However, i recently updated the software on my ipod to newer...

I am having the exact same problem with my iPhone 3GS and the 50wx4. I upgraded to a new software version and am getting the same messages. It's very frustrating. I read on the apple forum that if you turn the iPod/iPhone off by holding down the top buttton and home button at the same time, and then plug it into your car stereo whilst still off then the 2 devices will reconfigure (the iPod should come on when you plug it into the stereo). This did not work for me but did work for some others in the forum, worth a try.

I dnt know how to hook my sony explode cdx gt 200 to my honda civic hatchback 94

The Honda Civic requires a dash adaptor you need this wiring harness to install the stereo it dont seem a dash adaptor is required for the 94 model you use the cage/sleeve to install the sony in your car you will also need this removal tool and either wire nuts, heat shrink tubing, crimp caps and crimp tool or the common solder and wrap in electrical tape method to connect the wiring harness for the honda to the wiring harness for the stereo

I need a color code for a Sony Xplod CDX-GT23W.

Guessing that you don't still have the owners/install manual.

On the back of the head unit there should be a group of unused/unconnected wires (with any luck they will be marked), one or more might be an amp turn-on or power antenna lead, so I suggest (with the unit turned on) testing each wire with a DC voltage tester so as to identify and separate any leads supplying 12+ volts. the remaining group will consist of speaker leads. Trial and error testing will determine the proper L & R rear speaker leads.

Good luck

CDX-RA700 will not get power from my Honda Civic

Automobiles use Direct Current "DC" and is very dependant on a good ground. The black wire from your stereo should be the ground and needs to be attached to the chassis "metal part of the car". You can use an ohm meter to check for grounds by placing one lead on your door hinge (unpainted) and the other to where you are connecting your ground from the stereo. Be sure that this wire does not have voltage on it with the key off, on acc, or in the on position or you could blow a fuse or damage your equipment. Besides that make sure that you have 12v constant to the (usually red wire) and switched (voltage only with the key on) to (usually the yellow wire). Hope that helps. It's mostly about the ground.
