Dear Pacquia.
If you haven't already, install your sound-driver. Sometimes, you tend to forget these things after reformatting your harddisc.
If you already have the sound-driver installed, try updating it.
If this does not work, then it might be that you have either turned off or turned down the volume completly.
If it's an old lappy, then it MIGHT have a damaged sound-device, but i doubt that's the case.
(While i remember: It is a great help to those who try to help you, if you descibe your problem in depth, and tell what you have been trying. ;) )

Hi my sony vaio is very quiet is there a setting I am meant to change to make it louder? also the volume buttons seem to be on the F keys i cant this to work

Press and hold the Fn Key and press the volume key (repeatedly) and see if it increases the volume.
Also, you may look out for volume (sound) settings from the control pannel to increase the volume.

Hope it helps! Good Luck!

Hi you just need to right click on the volume icon on start bar and open volume properties and raise the volume via settings.

If that does not help, try updating your sound driver, or a player like vlc.

How to turn sound or volume on?

Hi, in the same area where the "Volume Controller," should be, (right click), to open the "Short-cut menu," next, select the [Properties] to open the "Taskbar Start Menu..." next, click on the "Notification area" button; a new window appear, in the [System icons] section, select the Volume [box], and put a check in it by clicking in the box. Next, click on the Apply and OK buttons. The Volume will be placed on the Taskbar. "Let me know by giving a "Helpful Rating" I appreciated it, thanks.
