The PSO on the front display has to do with your screen resolution of your tv. I have no idea where my book to my tv is to determine the resolution. I held down the rewind and fast forward buttons at the same time and it disappeared. Clicked on the Menu and checked the resolution again it automatically set it to 480p. I had it on 1080i.
I did it myself, the problem is pure mechanical!
Open cover plate, look behind where the push button of PSO is
located. You see the PSO push-button sort of level-arm somehow sticked to the rubbermatting where the circuit on-off is
In fact I lodged for advice to Samsung techsup weeks ago, but up to this moment no reply!
Did everything : rmoves out cd, put blank cd, record(active), put new dvd to play(active)----all to no avail, still this dammed PSO dsiplay. Audio yes, video no. Did every thing on the push button, to no avail, still PSO display.. No video

This problem maybe is caused by a software bug and can only occur if the Line-in NR is turned on in DISPLAY > VIDEO menu before starting to record, Unit hangs after trying to record from Line Input to DVD If the "OK" or the "Return" button on the remote is pressed at this time, the unit will hang and the front display shows scrolling "ooo...". Unit can be recovered by pressing the RESET button on the front panel. to correct it Download the improved firmware from Panasonic Web site and update the unit
Your connection is very easy so we should not have a problem isolating the problem.
We just have to go slow step by step.
First lets just check the Yellow cable just to be on the safe to side sure it is connected properly on the back of the DVD player and on the Televison.
Second, If the connectionn is secured. Turn the DVD player on, make sure you do not have a disc in the tray then turn the DVD player off.
Make sure the battery on the remote control is a fresh new battery (process of eliminattion).
Hold the remote control in front of the DVD front panel.
Turn the DVD player on with the remote control. Look on the front panel of the DVD player, it should read no disc. Press the Pro.Scan button "once". (Have you notice a flickering on the Television Screen).
If no flickering on the TV screen, press the Pro.Scan button again, ( this will be the second time). Have you notice the flickering?
If not, press the Pro.Scan button again ( third time). Have you notice a flickering on the TV screen?
Did you not notice on the LED of the DVD player if it read anything when you pressed the Pro.Scan button?
Try the above procedure again if your picture did not resume. If the picture resume in black and white, do not press the Pro.Scan button anymore.

to turn it off select connection method 3 above and progressive scanning mode, to set the mode, set progressive to off in the display menu so that the p scan indicator light on the front panel goes out. do all of this in interface mode. you can also do this by pressing and holding PLAY > on the front of the unit for more than 5 seconds, still watch for the p scan indicator to go off. this works best when the unit is connected directly to the television.
