Note that the temperature in the freezer must be below 10 degrees F for the icemaker to cycle. The icemaker line is the smaller line (1/4") located in the back of the machine that runs from the valve to the filll tube. To test the valve and icemaker you have to manually advance the ice maker and wait for it to call for water with the 1/4" line disconnected from the valve. You can do this by getting a jumper wire, removing the cover of icemaker, which you jsut grab and pull off, and using the jumper wire insert one end of the wire into the cirle marked "M" and the other in the cicle marked "N". Leave there until you hear a click and sometimes see a little spark behind the modular head wheel. Also if you see ice in the maker that hasn't dumper and the teeth of the icemaker are facing any direction other than two o clock position, the icemaker is bad. Before doing any of the above though check the fill tube to be sure the no ice is blocking water from coming in.
The ice maker valve is a dual one. with 2 solenoids. One solenoid operates the water and the other the ice maker. So if the water works that don't mean the ice maker supply is ok. The ice maker itself controls the flow of water. So if the water valve is ok then the ice maker is faulty. I have repair photos HERE
Carefully pour water from small glass into ice maker, until the cavity is near filled. Wait a few hours. If it dumps ice, you can usually rule out the ice maker.
If ice maker dumps, then it will be either a bad water valve, Ice building up in fill pipe going into the icemaker, or blocked water line that runs from your water source to the machine.
Caution. If the fill tube going into the ice maker is filled with ice do NOT
use heat such as a hair dryer to melt it. It will melt things you do not want to melt. If it is this problem, you must also replace the water valve because it is leaking slowly causing your problem.
Lastly, in rare cases, the microswitch in the ice maker fails and does not allow water to enter the icemaker.
Probably the valve that feeds water to the ice maker leaks and this water freezes up at the filling tube to the ice maker and the water doesn't go through, but if the filling tube is not frozen and the ice maker doesn't call for water the problem is in the ice maker inside board ,if so you should replace the ice maker.
Hi, Yes you can. When the icemaker cycles, do you hear the inlet valve buzzing? If you blew through the line that goes from the inlet valve to the icemaker and it is open, sounds like the inlet valve is bad.
your plastic water tube coming in to the icemaker is probably frozen needs to be taken out and remove ice not letting water come in to icemaker I have run on this alot in the field. This seems to happen [alot] when you turn off the water to the icemaker
yes the door dispenser and the ice maker have separate valves it could be the ice maker valve isn't working properly could be the motor module is bad on the icemaker its self get a 10 gaugepiece of wire about three inches long strip about 3/8 to1/2 in off each end pull the front off the icemaker and you will se a bunch of little holes they will have letters on them put the wires in the holes marked t and h kind of wiggle it side to side and watch the ice maker if it does nothing then replace the motor module on the front of the icemaker (you don't have to buy the whole icemaker you can buy the module separate ) if the ejector blades move then when they get to the bottom pull the wire out wit for it to complete its cycle see if it fills if it doesn't then change now if your ice bucket is in the door that can be a whole different animal reply to me and let me know what you find and if you have the icemaker in the door dont buy anything till we check it out as a mater of fact if you pull the bottom kickplate off there should be a tech sheet in it or in a plastic bag under the fridge
