Does the desktop have an S-video output on its video card? If it does, you only have to get either an S-video cable and hook it up from the computer to the TV, or get an S-video cable plus an S-Video to composite adapter, and hook it up.

For the video card to output to S-Video, you may need to fiddle with something in the control panels, or unplug the regular monitor and reboot (at least on my NVidia 5600 cards, this forces the card into using the S-Video output).

Personally I think you will be very disappointed. Using normal computer applications while using your TV as a monitor will be basically impossible; the text will be too small and blurry. Web browsing on picture-and-headline type pages will be OK, but everything else? Instant headache. Most applications that are designed to be accessed via a TV screen instead of a TV monitor have huge font sizes and lots of contrast (cf. the TiVo's interface, for example); they're designed much differently than desktop apps. You may want to look into screen-magnification apps to make it easier on your eyes.

regards,

hope

Pc monitor wont switch on

First, if you have another monitor or a lcd tv with pc component input, try testing that to rule out your computer being faulty. If the computer does display to the tv or another monitor, then we can rule that your monitor is faulty. You can check the power adapter to the monitor (usually a small green dot light that comes on) to see if the light is on or not. If it is on then check connection the monitor, if not, then your power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. Otherwise the monitor is faulty and needs to be replaced with a new one.

I'm trying to connect a pc to tv where do I find

I have never hear of a code needed to connect a pc to a tv. If your TV has a monitor in port, just take your monitor cable and plug it in to the TV and select that port on your TV.

Have you checked the menu set-up option on the TV set ? Your computer may be sending an out of range signal, so set it to low resolution and try that. Obvious other thing is the "input" setting, it may not auto detect it.

Connect tv to computer

Be sure to enable the second screen through the windows display settings. Right click on the desktop background and select personalize (VIsta) or Properties (XP). Click on the settings menu (lower down on Vista, a tab on the right for XP) and look at the monitor setup. After you are connected via cable to the TV, go there, click on the second screen and select "enable this monitor", "extend desktop onto this monitor" or something of the like. Oftentimes it will not do it if you are not already physically plugged in so ensure that you do that first.

Tv as monitor

You may have to find the driver for this monitor before connecting the new monitor up. Go to the manufacture of the monitor and search in the support area for downloads and drivers. Load the driver then connect your new monitor up and see if it works. If not, then use a good monitor to power up first. Then, with computer on, put new monitor on and see if it will locate a driver.

Connecting a Toshiba lcd tv to a Sony Vaio VGC-LA3

you should have a (vga) tv-out socket usually blue with about 16 pins in it,if you have not which is unusual then refer to sony for the laptops specs and location of tv-out socket.
The Nvidia graphics card should have one I believe the Gforce go card is the one for your system unless upgraded and is advertised to support this function.
