I have also a DSC-S700 camera and when connected to my laptop, pictures cannot be read from it. the removable disk comes in empty but my pictures, when reviewed, are still intact in the memory stick.

i have the same problem but with the memory stick when i put it in nothing pops up.... what should i do????

Please let me know, does your PC recognize camera and give pop-up as new device or Removable Disk in My Computer menu? If not, check and connect USB Cable properly or get another (but same) USB cable and try again. If you need further info, please post back here.

Yellow and white pins cable is called AV Cable, it is to hook camera with TV. It wont hook camera with computer.
You need USB cable to connect camera with computer. Required USB cable is available in Sony Accessories Store under following part number..
319698101 .... CODE (USB 5P) CONNECTION

How do I delete pictures? I can't seem to locate my manual.

If its Sony DSC-S700 camera as question post shows then click Sony Support to download instruction manual copy that contains all details about camera functions.

Format Error keeps coming up when I try to take a picture

You need to format memory stick by going into camera menu.
