Troubleshooting with the Kodak tech (1-800-421-6699 US & Canada)
After having the same trouble w/my Kodak 5100, I called the troubleshooting phone number. The tech guided me through a few procedures and then determined that a new printhead would solve the problem. It arrived in the mail just a few days later and it did solve the problem - so far. I'm cynically waiting for the next problem to arise, but for now, it's working as it should. I'd advise calling them.
Troubleshooting with the Kodak tech (1-800-421-6699 US & Canada)
I used the Kodak website to troubleshoot my printer. I also found that they had issues with their printheads. I e-mailed them to see how I could get a replacement and after a couple of e-mails clarifying serial numbers, addresses and etc, they sent me a replacement printhead free of charge.
When I installed the new printhead, I got a fatal error message that said to call their support number. The tech had me remove the printhead and re-install it. Everything is working like it should now.
Sounds like perhaps the print cartridges need cleaning and alignment.

I have exactly the same problem.
I calibrated my printer and cleaned the printheads. It did not help.
i have the same problem thought I bought duds for new ink cartridges
bought two more at a diferent store, was good for a few copies and it went off again. I figure it may be the printhead. But do you also have to replace
printhead every time you need new ink cartridges?
I have cleaned and calibrated the print heads many times and I can not get a good print any more mine come out very light and spottie. can any one help
