For most Edimax routers,
the default IP address is 192.168.2.1, default username is admin and password
By default the router is a
DHCP server which will assign IP address starting from 192.168.2.100 to
192.168.2.199 to DHCP clients automatically.
Make sure your computer has
TCP/IP Protocol setup as "Obtain IP address automatically".
Open the Internet
Type in http://192.168.2.1 hit Enter.
The Login window will
Type in the default
username admin, password 1234.
Click on Login.
Then you can configure the
access your router configiration to check what is your gateway address click start button then go programs then click accessories then click command prompt. From the command prompt type ipconfigand press enter
get the default gateway address and type that into the address bar of the Internet Explorer and press enter. you will be ask for username and password you must type your router username and password.
inside the router configuration you can configure/change password for your router as well as the password for your wireless.
to access the router page for linksys, you need to type 192.168.1.1 on the address bar. username is
" admin " password is " password " if it doesnt work, try "admin" for username and "admin" for password. then it would take you to the router page. and you can start configuring.
Reset your router back to it's factory settings by holding the reset button for about 5 seconds. I have provided a list of the most popular router brands. If it does not work you may need to google what your specific model's default IP address/default username/default passwords are, for example search for "Encore ENHWI-2AN3 default IP address" The default login info can change, it can depend on where you obtained your router. If you purchased it yourself from a store then the standard defaults should work. If you obtained your router from your Internet Provider you may need to contact your service provider. It also may depend whether it's an old or new model router as well. And you may need to press and hold the reset button on your router several times before it actually clears. Make sure you have a wired connection then once you have accessed your router simply run the Setup Wizard. Set your SSID as something you'll remember like "Mavericks Network" and your Password can be something like your phone number for example 3109876543

to reset or to change your password, is you need to access the router page, but you have to be directly connected to the netgear, and access the router page by opening a browser and type 192.168.1.1 on the address bar. it would ask you for a username and a password. username is " admin " password is " password " then after that , you would be able to configure, reset and change the name of the router
First you need to know the access ADMIN Username and Password for your router? If you have the access then you can configure your router manually.
Identify what IP address of your gateway. >Start>CMD>IPCONFIG (check what IP address you have in gateway. use that ip address to access your router) example. >launch internet explorer then type the IP address into the address bar. >http://192.168.1.1
you will be redirected to a page will it asked for username and password. then you need to enter the information. if you dont know the admin un and pw contact your ISP. but most of the default UN and PW is Username: admin Password: admin
once you able to get into the GUI of your router then go to configuration for the PW to lock your network.
>first, access your linksys' default gateway by typing 192.168.1.1 on you browser's address bar
>Graphical User Interface (GUI) will be accessed
>Now it will ask you to login by default the Linksys routers uses either "admin" as username and "password" as the password or leave the username blank and type "admin" as password. Not unless you have setup a logon security for your router's configuration. After logging into the router's configuration, go to SECURITY tab, if your wireless connection does ask for a username and password for you to connect then you need to ask your Internet Service Provider (ISP) what type of security is compatible with your service will it be WEP,WEP Shared, WPA2 etc...
Now, if you select WEP the password is plainly a 10-digit code, if it's other than WEP then the wireless password has to be a 16-digit Alpha-Numeric code...
You don't actually need the CD to reconfigure your router or change the password or anything related to your router. So long as the router is connected to your computer via ethernet cable you can access the browser configuration page of your router.
1. connect your router to your computer via ethernet cable
2. If you are using Windows XP - click start - click run - type cmd - in the black screen type ipconfig and press enter - look for the default gateway (example 192.168.1.1) - Open Internet explorer - type in the address bar: http://the default gateway (example http://192.168.1.1) then press enter and it'll ask you for the password - usually the username is blank and the password is admin or the username is admin and the password is pass or password
If you are using Windows Vista / Windows 7 - Click the pearl button - Click on start search at the bottom of the pop-up window - type cmd (don't press enter yet) - right click the black icon on the top of the window after typing cmd - click on the run as administrator - click on continue if there's a prompt - in the black screen type ipconfig and press enter
- look for the default gateway (example 192.168.1.1)
- Open Internet explorer
- type in the address bar: http://the default gateway (example
http://192.168.1.1) then press enter and it'll ask you for the password
- usually the username is blank and the password is admin or the username is admin and the password is pass or password
After successful accessing the configuration page you can now configure your router freely.
If I'm not mistaken, you can't get to the user name password page unless you have already accessed the edimax setup page after typing 192.628.2.1, thus the solutions provided by some of our friends might not be of help.
