Question about HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Hp c6180 keeps erroring that there's no paper, when it does recognize paper

It prints with the top corner folded over, then jams. I've cleared jams from back, but the front paper tray seems like it isn't seating right.

Thanks, what do you suggest for fixing it? Can I fix it--it's gotten very light since I got it six months ago--or should I buy replacement parts and repair it, or should I pitch it? I'm furious that it breaks down so much, errors so much, with my mac.

Can I fix this thing? Is it worth it? I paid about 200 US and it's practically new. It drinks ink like a thirsty creature. The ink is VERY expensive.

What about the defcom reset using the * and # keys and resetting it, for what it's worth? Is that useful?

Also, I think the paper tray isn't in straight. When I look at the bottom of the printer, there are two buttons that slide for moving? the tray? I'd like to remove and put it back in straight, is that a possibility?

Thanks, for the help, by the way. I didn't say that in my previous message and I should have because you responded so quickly and with such precise technical knowledge. This printer makes me so mad I forget my manners.

Folded corner is 2 things
a) it's gettig folded somewhere along the paper path ( you would have to stop it at every step to see at what point it gets folded)

b)usually the fuser claws are the problem ( right before the exit the part that gets hot has some claws that ride ON the heat roller 3-5 depending on the machine, one is going bad )

    precisionroller.com

    feedroller.com

Inkjets were made for the everyday consumer, they are cheaper but in the long run cst you more !!!!!!!!!

you can remove the tray, the buttons you are referreing to are most likely to change the size of the paper, Legal, Letter, etc..

take it out you should see a track or guides that the tray slides in, check to see if something is broken, ( might be the tray itself)

HP 6210 All-In-One

Open up the top and look into the cartridge/paper print area. Look in the corners, Sometimes little pieces of paper can still be stuck there. Once you are convinced that the paper and cartridge path is clear then...

Pull out the paper tray. Look inside the opening. If there is paper there then pull it out.

Take all of the paper out of the paper tray.
Turn it over (paper on top is now on the bottom of the tray)

Try it now.

Most likely worn pads & rollers, I'm afraid. Kits are available though. Not too dear.
