Question about Nikon Coolpix S1 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Nikon coolpix s1

Camera has been working just fine, last night I turned it on and it doesn't seem to be able to focus. A clicking sound comes from the camera and the image on the screen goes in and out of focus. On pressing the shutter button I get AF red dot and have even got a message saying something about the "initializing" lense not being able to focus. Does this mean that the focus mechanismo on the lense is jammed? I think it might... would very much appreciate any feedback.

This kind of issue is usually caused by the night vision mode of the camera being switched on.
In some cases, the cause may be more than just the night vision being turned on but just to be sure, it is advised that you turn of any function that has to do with the night vision feature.
These features may range from the night vision mode itself and then to the night vision lighting.
Hope this was helpful?

Sounds like you've been viewing these pics occasionally on the computer but forgetting to use the "safely remove hardware" function when you're finished. This will sometimes corrupt the files and they will disappear on some devices.

Nikon coolpix s630, lens error, blurry, ticking sound

The following blog outlines some repair options for a lens error. They won't work for all cases, but they're worth a try if the camera's no longer under warranty:

if its brand new, then you can replace the lens array for free of service charges in the case you have all the documents. it generally happens if you have dropped the camera.

Camera "dead"

Did you try taking the batteries out? If not, try that and then put them back in again. This might reset the camera back to normal. Also, try turning the dial. Make sure it is at the camera setting, then try shutting it off. Further, move the dial to Set-up, and scroll down to the Reset all setting, press the right arrow and answer "Reset".
