There is very likely a few plugged print head on your black cartridge. The printer or its software should have some maintenance options to do a cleaning.

Otherwise, you would need to try a new cartridge to see if the problem reproduces itself or take a look inside. There are a few possibilities.

#1: Some dirt/dust/hair/etc... has gotten stuck under the print carriage and is blocking certain print heads, unlikely as you would get some spotching and messy prints.

#2: The contacts behind the cartridge either on the cartridge or in the carriage are dirty and blocked so the signal is not getting to some of the print heads.

#3: The trailing cable going from the engine board to the carriage is damaged and is causing some printheads not to fire.

#4: The engine board is faulty, unlikely since the printer still seems to print well.

The short answer is that it's not economical to repair the printer further than replacing the cartridge. If you're fairly certain the cartridge is clean or that a new cartridge won't or hasn't fixed the problem then it's time to replace your printer.

Have fun!

A line coming in print out konica minolta

If the line is across the page and at regular intervals this is usually a mark on the drum / web or cartridge drum - can be residue from printing labels (especially if you reuse sheets). If it is a particular colour then it is likely to be that cartridge which has problems.

If line is top to bottom of page then this will be either excess toner in printer or faulty cartridge - again if the line is a particular colour look at that cartridge first.

I can not print doublesided on my leximark s405. the option in the print settings is greyed out and i can not get the drop down menu.

It could be a printer driver problem. Try to update your printer driver by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/jerLUr. Select your operating system, download and execute the file.
After update is complete, try to print 2-sided again.

Error code is 241.07 Paper Jam on display with no actual paper jam.. paper tray is empty but will not feed from next full tray

Amazing. Paper jam error yet there was no paper. Tried to clean it with air, changed paper and restarted. Still no luck! Called Leximark tech support and they asked about the warranty that had just lapsed. Literally the printer was a year and 1 month old. I kept trying to ask if they could just send out one of there techs. After a day and a half someone from Leximark called and said they would need to replace 3 things for ....$909. Mind you they have not even seen the printer. I asked them to explain this ridiculous price, they put me on hold again when finally a guy that didn't seem to care said that is the standard price for us to repair for out of warranty printers. I went to this forum and used a couple of the suggestions. Turns out the arm that raises the paper on tray 1 is slipping. The cogs are not catching when they turn. I was able to assess this by checking the arm on trey 2 which was working well and was not slipping when I manually turned it with my hand.
The fix or the workaround for me was to remove the paper from trey 1 and change the settings to default trey 2 as the main paper source.
I realize this didn't fix it, but I just saved $900 until I decide to get a local repair shop to come and fix the arm on trey 1. I can't imagine that is going to cost $900. This is the last Leximark we will ever purchase.

I have a new Dell computer, and when we got everything hooked up it prints really small. iv tried 3 diff. connects from radio shack and it still prints small. its a leximark T520 and a 2010 Dell.

Printing is a function of the software that you are using. If for instance you are using Word, you change the print size by clicking on the font size feature. Usually a small window up in the right corner on the tool bar indicates the size of the font, but there are other ways of getting to it. The number lower means smaller, for instance 12 is normal print where 25 is very very large. look around on your printing software.
