Dv7 subwofer is missing so speakers and headphones dont work. Do i need a new subwofer?

Generally speaking, sub-woofers are not built into notebook computers, as most sub-woofers would not fit. However, there are generally speakers, and there tend to be problems with the audio drivers in most cases if there is no sound for both speakers and headphones.
Within the notebook, there should only be two speakers. If they're missing, did you buy this used or refurbished? If someone just yanked out the two speakers and carelessly cut or handled the wiring improperly, then this could interrupt the headphone bypass cut-off.
I know you mentioned you'd already verified everything appeared to be working properly, and in some cases updating drivers or uninstalling and re-installing them has a positive result. For the obvious, which I've also forgotten to check sometimes, is whether the output is muted within the volume control and mixer.

If it works via headphones, then the problem definitely is the speakers of your portable system. It may be shorted or you may have a loose connection. In-short, you need to have it replaced. Bring your portable to a repair shop and have it replaced.

Error # 0x0000c1F5 It wont start windows, or even recover with recovery disk. Just blue screen with this message says possibly hardware or software problem.

ok, step one:
get a bootable CD (acts like a running backup boot), and put it in. your computer should boot up ok (NOTE* if it gives you the option to start in safe mode, don't. that will prevent the next step. start windows normally).
step two:
once it is up and running, eject the boot CD and get your recovery CDs/DVDs. insert them and follow the instructions. with everything recovered, it should work fine.
step three (optional)
attempt to create a new set of recovery CDs/DVDs.

Hello!

HP Pavillion have automated system Recovery built in check what you have to press in order to restore it to factory status. NOTE that this will erase your documents and stuff. So back the important data up first! If i am not mistaken it has to be some CTRL+F10 or CTRL+F11 to activate. Check manual to make sure. If it should work (because you're pressing the right key but it is not working. .... go to CMOS SETUP and make sure that AUTOMATIC system RECOVERY is enabled. This should install everything nicely for you and you should get it exactly as it was when you bought it.....

Cheers.
