Here's our video guide to replacing a washingmachine drum lifter.
A broken agitator paddle can cause your clothesto tear. Don't let this happen when replacing one is relatively simple.
The plastic paddles in the drum on the later washing machines (WMA models) often come looseand come off altogether. They can be replaced. call them lifters. You usually insert a smallscrewdriver down one of the holes (it's the 3rd one on ) and gently press downwhile sliding the lifter out.
Washing trainers in a washing machine is reputedto damage the drum lifters and paddles inside the drum, particularly onnon-quality washing machines.
There are few types of drum lifter; drum Paddle lifters

f13 is a Dispenser circuit error

If the dispenser motor is not able to be driven to it's proper position.

Check mechanical linkage from dispenser motor to the top of the dispenser.

Check Wire Harness connections to the dispenser motor and Central Control Unit (CCU)

Check Dispenser Motor

Lcd display very dim and flickering

I've put up with the same problem on my WD860 for nearly a year. The unit works fine - just the display flickers rapidly, goes very dim or goes off completely (one has to then guess and listen to the beeps to work out what its doing!).
Typically, the fault occurred shortly after the warranty expired. The 5 years parts warranty is a bit of a swizz - as you can only get the parts free if you pay for Hotpoint to fit it.
I did find a place that was offering a new display panel for just over £90.
After much Umming and Arring about ditching the entire machine or gambling on replacing parts (not knowing if it would fix the problem) I Googled the part number "Hotpoint hm0108" and found a place here in the UK (Nottingham) the sells recon parts.
(I won't give the name in case It's classed as advertising). You buy the replacement unit and send your faulty one back to them, which validate their warranty (I guess they recon your part to also sell on).
The display/control unit was just over £40.
Removing the display/panel is dead easy..
- Disconnect the power from the unit (Obviously)
- Remove the 2 screws at the back (from the little brackets). This allows the Lid to be removed. There seems to be a bit of a "knack" to removing the lid - otherwise you break a few little plastic clips!... With both hands push down and back firmly from the front, until the lid slides back about an Inch. Make sure its pushed back as far as it will go before you lift it up - other wise you'll hear the clips break and rattle down inside the unit (Mine did break, but the lid still screws back on fine, so they can't perform any major function!).
- On the display panel pinch the the row of bottom clips all the way along, to release the unit.
- The panel then hinges from the top and slides down and out.
- Remove the data/power Connector block (Which is keyed so that it only fits one way).

Repeat the process in reverse to install the new part.

Everything works a treat. I can now actually see what the unit is displaying!
I've fixed the problem and done my part for the enviroment - by recycling parts that Hotpoint don't make correctly!!... and not had to pay the earth (I think hotpoint wanted nearly £120 for a 2 min job!)... Everyone's a winner!

I have no idea what the actual problem was - obviously a design/manufacture fault with the LCD display unit.

I hope this helps?

(I'll probably never buy anything Hoitpoint again!)

Flashing f - 05

Error f05 is a problem with the pressure system usually caused by a blockage. These are most commonly found in the pipe which is attached to the bottom of the drum.
Take off the access plate at the back of your machine and you can see it is secured by a large jubilee type clip.
Please be aware that there will be water in this pipe.
Hope this helps & thankyou for using Fixya.

Hotpoint WD72 - error message heating or Heater

Do u want to resolve the f-13 fault code ON HOTPOINT WD860 Ultima
Fix the fault . It is a tricky job but the heater thermostat switch has tripped as it senses something burning. Probably a little bit of fluff on the heater element inside the heater unit.. There are 2 switches on top of this heater unit. One where the 2 blue wires go on the top left of the 3rd picture and the other which has a tall black wire connector on shown in the middle of the 3rd picture. Remove that connector and undo the holding screw . You can then reset the switch. The switch is a small circular switch hidden beneather the connector on the photos. This thermostat switch has a yellow. red dot ontop of it. If you use a small pin or needle and press into that dot you will hear it tick back into place. you have reset the switch now. You will probably need to clean the inside of the heater element unit to get rid of the fluff particles or it will keep switching off. To take this apart you will need a set of Star screwdrivers. Its a bit tricky but you will be able to undo the star screws and take them all out. I will add some photos to show you the unit apart. You can see the build up of fluff on the photos i have added from my hotpoint WD860 heater unit. This is a tricky job and takes about an hour due to the screw being awkward to take off and put on again but mine hasnt faulted for 2 years since sorting it out. You can buy a new Thermostat switch which is about 10 pounds sterling from Hotpoint or other spares stores. hotpoint-wd72-error-message-heating-or-04t3bj0jgktmuqmnt3s3ejb0-2-0.jpg hotpoint-wd72-error-message-heating-or-04t3bj0jgktmuqmnt3s3ejb0-2-2.jpg hotpoint-wd72-error-message-heating-or-04t3bj0jgktmuqmnt3s3ejb0-2-7.jpg
