Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I ran a Belarc Advisor test on my computer today. The score result was just 3.13 & fairly low. The Belarc Advisor performed a security audit of my system using the CIS Level-I benchmark appropriate to my operating system. The result is a number between zero and ten that gives a measure of the vulnerability of my system to potential threats. The higher the number the less vulnerable my system. Could you pleasetell me how can I go about increasing my score in future?

I am not sure what "OS" means, however my computer runs automatic window updates on a regular basis (not quite sure if this is the samething).

As for antivirus, I currently have Norton installed, it comes with it's own personal firewall too. as a back up I have windows firewall activated.

Yes. You would normally need to apply updates to the OS from the Windows Updates site; unless you have... have you?

What antivirus and firewall do you have if any?

OS means Operating System.

On your machine, disable Windows Firewall as it is known to conflict with Norton's Firewall and leave you disabled.

Also, go to windows.com click on the Continue Button start downloading Windows Defender and install it.

Then rerun your protection score and post back any change.

Belarc is not considered to be the software to own and use for benchmarking your computer's vulnerability.

You might want to get the Belarc Advisor program. It's free and will identify your motherboard and components in the system. You can then look for a manual for that mother board or one with a similar chipset. Belarc Advisor Free Personal PC Audit Version 8 4

Pc xps desktop does not start

It might help us give better answers if you told us the Make and Model, and the Operating System you are running. If you don't know how to find this, you can download and run the free Belarc Advisor(http://www.belarc.com/) to get more information about your machine.
Here's what I would do on most machines that won't boot.
The hard drive may be failing, or just the OS or hard drive corrupted. If you have files that you do not want to lose, you could try this... Pull the hard drive out, and use a "USB Hard Drive Adapter" (available fairly cheap online) to connect the hard drive to a friend's computer, and save all the personal files (documents, pictures, etc.) you can to a folder on the friend's computer or an external hard drive.
Then, you could try to do a Factory Restore on the computer, and if that works, copy your personal files back to your newly restored computer.

You can go to this link.

It is a page from Acer's webiste to find your system information. If it does not work, try using Belarc Advisor, a freeware to audit your system. It will tell you what you need to know about your system, including the make of your motherboard and the likes.

Good luck!

My computer is very slow, I have 384 MB of Ram, is it a way to put more memory on it? Thanks!

To get a very detailed report of your system and its expansion capabilities, download (free) Belarc Advisor and let it examine your system. Keep its report for future reference and it can also help you or a tech if trouble arises. It will tell you how many memory slots you have available total and let you know what the maximum capacity of your system is.
Belarc Advisor
You must have MS Internet Explorer available (any version 4.0 or later) since Advisor uses it to display the report.
