My NOKIA N73 screen shows headset mode on the top right even when not connected to the headset.....so i am not able to hear anything even when i connect the headset it is not responding & i can't hear anything the headset logo just dosn't go away & i am not able to contact anyone nor hear songs

I think problem is caused by unplugging the jack before pausing/Stopping the music.
1) Plug in a headset into the jack
2) Open up a media player (either the MP3 player or any online music)
3) Begin to let the music play.
4) Stop the music from playing after a few seconds
5) Completely exit out of the media application.
6) With the headset still plugged in, wait about 15-30 seconds. (this is so that the media/pandora app task can "fully" stop from running)
7) Unplug the headset.
The phone should now be able to emit sound from the earpiece.

If the above does not work, other methods I have read tell you to plug in a headset & play music. While the music is playing, quickly remove & insert the headset into the jack (not too rough so if doesn't break anything) until you hear the music coming out of the speaker.

Finally, if you still have the issue, try rebooting. Turn off the Phone, Remove the battery completely and reinsert after 30 seconds. Turn on the Phone.

Hopefully that should fix the issue.

try to change you profile you can see thta you can not ove into general or other profile, you are stuck at headset profile. if thishappens then
audio jack of the phone got damaged due to shortage, need to replace that and need some hardware work also to remove the shortage. please take the help of a mobile repair personal.

try to clean the headset interface at the bottom,might the socket is corruded and lead inoto shortage...

if that symbol never removes.you can never hear incoming calls or even the person calling might not here you...

if doesn't work,bring it to a mobile srvice shop near you. might a hardware (board) problem.

The headset jack is jammed.
Try blowing some compressed air in there and also insert a headset plug and wiggle it about to see if it knocks the stuck bit loose.

Drop the phone and put it together again. That's what happened to mine and the headphones disappeared

it only shows when you connect a head set to your phone check wether you have connected the head set properly it mainly cause due to losse connection in the head set port

This mostly happens from water damage to the connection ports. Use some 91% alcohol and wipe the connections with a toothbrush. Hopefully it will disconnect from headset mode

i think ur not using nokia approved genuine headset accessory . even though some head sets have nokia logo they r not original made by nokia . they cause low sound quality while hearing music and diaphram bets can be heard during playing high bass songs . try with another genuine headset

hey kev.. all i can ask you is ... the following 1) open the ear piece of the non working .. then take a multimeter (keep meter in resistance mode) and check the resitance if its good it will show you.. apx 32 0hm and if its showing you 0 or .1 or below 16 ohms.. 2) after you disconnect the speaker.. the broken one that is... chek the cable connectivity.. or rather continuity.. for this keep the meter in continuity mode the pervious resistance mode.. then take one wire and connect one prob from meter to it.. and take the other prob and connect ti too the pins of the cnnector.. ( here is there are 4 pins dedicated to the ear phone.. 2 for each.. nd they are towards the end sid.. just below the # key.. frm # key the last 4 pins connectors are for audio.. ) check the.. pins on the cord connector not the phone.. i hope you can find what wrong with your... head set now.. and yeah if the speaker is out jsut replace both the ear piece with sony or aiwa earphones.. it wil work best if your cable is gone then all the best buy a new one tc aditya
