Question about Printers & Copiers

Re Lexmark 5495 Paper has jammed right out of handling distance. It can be seen down at the bottom of where the paper is loaded but cannot be reached. I've removed the three screws from the back plate hoping this would release the back and giving me access but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks, John Smallwood

Thanks for your advice but the problem was incurable and the manufacturer has offered to replace the machine. However thanks again and I will recommend you to all my friends and colleagues.

my paper jams on the left side and wrinkles so the paper will not pull through. I can pull the paper back out but I can not get a copy made or even print 1 page of anything. I have tried unplugging and reloading the paper with many sheets, with 1 sheet, with thick paper with thin paper.

Any solutions will be helpful. This is the 1st week I have had the machine

My friend's Lexmark 5495 kept showing "Carrier Jam" message. I opened the cover and reset the cartridges, thankfully the carrier jam message went away. But now we have a new problem. Every time I try to align the cartridges, the paper does not feed through and starts to wrinkle on the left side. It just wont take any paper in.
    PLEASE HELP!!

Try a long thin pair of tweezers that's the only way to get to that part of the printer..and be careful. there's parts in there that don't appreciate tweaking by hard items.

Kyocera paper jam duplexer

The duplexer unit is located at the bottom of the printer. You have to remove the paper cassette first. Second, tilt the printer a little on the back side. In place of paper cassette, you will see an iron plate with a green handle in the left. Push down on the handle and the plate will go down. You may find paper jam there or pice of paper stucked. Release the handle and put back the printer and paper cassete, then open top cover and close it down. You may have paper jammed also under developer unit, or in the fuser section. Verify there, if the first solution won't solve the problem.

I have a 5650 lexmark printer and it keeps saying paper jams but there is not paper anywhere.. how can i find a solution... when you load paper it keepps getting stuck.. help

There could be something blocking the paper path. Try to shake the printer upside down. You'll be amazed of the things that falls off inside the printer. Also, make sure that there's no paper left inside the printer. Tiny pieces of paper will still lead to paper jams.

Lexmark 5495. No paper jam. Gears just spin. Won't grab paper. Paper properly in loading position.

Here are some tips on how to use the feeder: - Use paper that is in good condition. - Fan the paper before loading into the feeder to avoid sticking together. - Make sure the paper don't buckle when loading into the feeder. - Avoid overloading.

241 paper jam message

Lexmark T630 241 paper jam message - Indicates a paper jam from the pull down manual feed tray.

If you check to make sure and small fragments of paper are not hindering the operation of the switch. The switch is located on the left side of the tray and will be spring loaded. The switch should move freely without binding. Make sure no toner or dust is on the optical sensor assembly. See Diagram for location.

If the switch seems OK and the printer still reports an error, the printer will require professional care.

What should I do if my Lexmark X 1270 keeps on paper jamming?

To solve the printing problem..

# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.

1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.

# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

My lexmark is jammed

did you have any jams recently where the paper was badly damaged, and or came out in pieces? If so there may be a small amount of paper still jammed in the printer, out of sensor range. try looking deep into the bottom of the paper path and around the roller.

Paper loading

IF your facing problem with paper loading then try these steps and then try to load the paper , then no of pages these printer handle is 20 sheets in the paper tray...

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. (On the X83, press the Select button.)
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

usually it means that a sensor in your fuser is bad. If you have a P.M. Kit replaced the fuser and clean the printer.

but before you do, make sure that you have cleared all jams, including in the fuser.

Its probably time for a Preventive Maintanence
