Question about Samsung Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a DVD v6000. The DVD playback is fine but with the VCR the colour is fragmentary and unstable. I have tried cleaning the heads to no effect.

All tapes produce the same effect. (I have used a number of tapes borrowed from the library which may have contributed to the problem) I did try a cleaning tape to without success. I then carried out a couple of quite thorough manual cleanings. There has been only a very tiny improvement in the quality of the playback.

How did you clean the heads? Cleaning tapes cannot do as good a job as a manual cleaning.

Another possibility is a failing power supply. Is the problem worse on tapes you record than prerecorded tapes?

Usually if it the power supply the sound will have a slight warble.

Tape playback on Magnavox MWR20V6

When was the last time you ran the "head cleaning" tape in the machine? As tape collects dust and dirt - it gets deposited on the recording and playback heads. This ruins playback and recording quality. Also, since tape is magnetic - they tend to magnetize the heads, too (just like reel to reel, 8 track & cassette player / recorders). Demagnetizing them will help too. Here are links to both products:

Vcr doesn't record sound. Though it plays back

Needs cleaning. You can either use headcleaner cassette ( not always effective ( If you can find the type with micro-filament brushes they're more expensive but far more effective and last forever ) ) ; or alternatively do it manually ( sometimes neccesary ) ; unplug unit, remove the cover and clean all the surfaces that the tape comes into contact with ( using Q-tips and head cleaning fluid ( most effective ( when done thoroughly ( have to keep at it until absolutely no trace of black carbon comes off on Q-tip ) ) ) .

Playback Problem

open the recorder, 4 screws at each corner, wipe the playing head and the voice reccognition head, to the right of the playing head head with a baby wipe, you will be amiazed what **** comes off it. DON'T scrub it just wipe lightly, spin the playing head so it's clean. If you have a lint free cloth ( a glasses cleaning cloth you get in the case is brilliant) Try the tape (before you put it in make sure everything is DRY!) and your problem should be solved. It worked for me! and that came from a TV engineer

Daewoo combo - DVD is fine, sound works but not picture appears

The video heads have been clogged. You can try a cleaning tape, but those often do not work. If that fails, you will need to have a professional clean the heads and verify the head alignment. This should not cost more than $50 or so.

Go video VR4940 VCR video recording has sound but no picture

You can try cleaning the video tape heads. The vcr has 2 different heads. One for audio which is fixed and a drum head for video with 2 heads on it that rotate. The best way to clean them is to take a lint free cloth ad wrap it tightly around your finger. Put some alcohol on the cloth and place it on the drum. Then rotate the drum as you hold your finger against the drum. DO NOT move your finger up and down as you can brake the head off. The other option is to go buy a head cleaning stick. It's a piece of chamie on a plastic tongue depressor. I've cleaned hundreds of them with my finger though. You can clean the whole tape path with the rag. Good Luck.

Rolling of picture

Hi,
You camera is PAL and you are attaching with Ntsc TV or VCR. Both Pal and Ntsc are different systems and incompatible to each other.
If you want to see correct playback of your Camera, it requires Pal or Multi-System color TV.
Need further info, please let me know.
