Will not load tape

Hitachi VT-MX910EUk. Will take in tape cartridge but does not pull out the tape to the head - simply ejects every time. Assume some form of tape registration is failing? If I crank the main loading gear by hand I can get it to take the tape to the head - but never under it's own power. Regrads, Neil

    Shuttle83.

Many thanks for the advice, sounds like my issue.

I've noticed a perspex-like post on the main-board, almost as if it's a fibre optic(?) that pokes up into the hole in the base of each video cassette - almost between the spools? There's no visible light that I can make out from the thing.

Will investigate and if easily available will see if I can replace.

    Regards,
    Neil

I concur with shuttle 83's analysis; that the sensor(s) in the carriage have gone south on you. These are simply photo transistors, and are readily available at just about any parts supply house...accordianman

Hello yellowwestie,

You may have a bad tape position sensor assembly (LED and photo transistor). It's purpose is to detect where the tape is in the loading process, and if the tape is not in the proper place at the proper time the tape is returned to the cassette and the cassette is ejected. This sounds like what you are talking about. I would suggest getting a schematic and checking the bias voltages (with a multimeter) on the tape position sensor assembly. If the sensor is bad replace it, if it is not check the tape sensor assembly circuitry.

I hope this helps

Thank you,

Shuttle83

Eject the tape on Hitachi VT-FX695. It stays on for about 45 seconds and will not eject and then powers off.

hi,
the door mechanism is may be gripped because of a small kick...
did you try to open the door with a full charged battery and with the wall plug connected too ? help it with a toothpick or the corner of a credit card...
if this doesn't work, it may be the motor that is dead, do you ear any little noise when asking the ejection ? if yes, it is the mechanic, if not, it is the motor or the motor driver that is dead.
cheers,
mich

How to Clean a Travan 40

<p>Travan 40 tape drive, manufactured by the leading data storage and backup device manufacturer Quantum, uses the tape storage business to 40 gigabytes of data. It can be installed on any Windows computer, and works as an additional unit similar to a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM. Like a tape of age, Travan 40 used with the recording heads for data storage on tape. These heads have to be cleaned, and Quantum recommends using a cleaning tape.<br /> <p> <br /> <p>1. Turn on the computer. Remove the cleaning cartridge of your case.<br /> <p><br /> <p>2. Insert the cleaning cartridge into the Travan 40 drive, with the metal plate down. Gently push the drive mechanism that pulls and keeps everything in the device.<br /> <p><br /> <p>3. Look at the LED on the drive Travan, should stop blinking and turns off in about 8 seconds. Note that the LED will remain on the cartridge is used more often than not meant to be used and, if so, remove it and put a new cleaning cartridge.<br /> <p><br /> <p>4. VCR immediately ejects tape or draws it in and starts to eat it.

All pinch rollers and heads need to be cleaned! They probably got sticky from not being used.

Won't print. Orange "alarm" light blinking. When I press the OK button, a thumping noise comes from inside the machine. Maybe ink cartridge container isn't sliding properly?

the ink cartridge head typically runs on a clear tape back and forth , it uses this tape for head positioning. often the tape gets dirty and the head cannot position its self, which causes the ink head to slam into it carriage limits, while trying to find it. solution is to simply and carefully wipe off the tracking tape with vinegar and water. do this while the machine is unplugged and off. Try to move the head around to clean the tape, dont pull or move the tape as it has to run "just so" through the print head. The tape runs all the way across the inkhead travel zone. you will see it. please provide some thumbs up if this helps you. Thanks. Cheers

My 1995 bmw 318i won't eject a tape and the tape keeps changing from side 1 to side 2 and won't stop. I don't have any music in my car now since the only way to change it to radio is to eject the tape

Just a thought. try pushing the eject button holding it down & with a small pair of pliers carefully lift the tape & pull it out. Tape player heads could be dirty, eject button sticking or faulty or the player is done its time. Good luck

HITACHI vcr DOES NOT LOAD TAPE

It's more than likely a slipping belt in the tape mechanism

If you are technically inclined it can be fixed for around $3.00

If you are not then it would be advisable to buy a new VCR because the repair cost would be more than the cost of a new one .

My GL2 camera constantly wants me to eject tape!!  I am unable to use my camera because it forces me to eject  the tape. I've switch tapes and use new tapes and still the same  results. Only time it...

The immediate remedy may be cleaning the video heads. The head is not receiving the data from the inserted tape because it may be clogged. Use head cleaning tape for about 10 seconds but NO MORE. Try again, if not you may need to clean and adjust by trained technicians. Good luck -James. For further assistance, go to www.camerarepairjapan.com

Vcr will not load vcr cartridge

The tape mechanism is not loading and/or driving the VCR tape properly. Most people don't realize that the tape is physically pulled out of the VCR cassette and wrapped around the video heads in a semi-circle configuration. Your VCR guides are pulling the tape out but not retracting it into the cassette shell when you press eject. Causes: mode switch, mechanical failure, video head speed/drive problems. All these problems are somewhat complex for a novice repair person and don't forget that new VCR's are selling for $30 at the big box stores....Glen.

Canon ZR85 camcorder won't turn on

Steps for removing the tape from a totally dead ZR85:
1. Turn camera upside down.
2. Move "Open/Eject" button to full right position (toward lens).
3. Manually push tape door open.
4. On the metal surface that sits between you and the tape, there is a very small screw. There is probably a yellow sticker next to the screw that says "Do not press on this part". With a small jewelry phillips screwdriver, remove that screw.
5. Push the metal plate (with tape) in the direction ofr the door and lift slightly. The metal assembly holding the tape comes loose, exposing the top of the tape.
6. Pull the tape upwards (out of the camera). At this point, the tape will still be engaged in the play heads. With the cartridge out far enough to see the heads, reach in with your jewelry screw driver and carefully lift the tape over the heads, and free from the camera.
7. Use the eraser on the end of a pencil to wind your tape back into the cartridge.
8. When re-assembling the mechanism in the camera, there are two curved slots on both sides of the piece you took loose. You'll need to thread these onto two posts inside before you place the top back in position and put the screw back in.

Tape stuck in vcr

If the tape is really stuck, your only resort will be to unscrew the cover off the unit and get to the assembly where the tape heads are. You can just simply pull the tape out (carefully). Some of the tape might still be spooled on the capstans or pinch rollers.
