HELLO. yes that would hurt the set , turning it off & on. !!! sound's like it might have blowen a horzanl out put.!!! or it could be a bad contack.!!! a cold solder joint.!! or dry scoket.!!! the need's to be resolder.!!! the price for a new power supply could be around $85.00 to $200.00 at a shop.!! and then there is labor to install it.!! At $65.00 to $125.00 hr. so your looking at around $225.00 to $ 450.00. its depend's where you take it .!!! call around first and ask who much they would charge you first.!!! hope this help's you "GOOD LUCK"
