Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

THOMSON SCENIUM 44" TV has a possible faulty power supply or loose connection in the unit as it will not turn on (standby light flicks on and off). My 1year old would constantly turn the TV on and off and this has most likely caused this problem! how much would it cost to fix it , New power supply?

How do i fix thomson scenium tv the standby light turns red but won't switch the screen on

I do not know specific on this model (which youdid not give a model number)

The most possible cause is capacitors which fail but also other parts or software issues can be at fault. Sets like most modern types have a start up routine which verifies sections of you set are working correctly before fully powering up, so if a fault is found just shut down.
There may well be a known part or parts but sets are made with components fitted by passing through "ovens" to make solder joints, these are at higher temperatures than normal tin/lead and standard irons are mostly not able to melt it without damage to track etc.
My advice is to contact Thomson (French electronics giant) for their nearest service agent a far better solution than to try yourself, many of the "thin" sets after a couple of years (out of guarantee) are not fixable because they require panel changes which soon run out of stock if many go wrong, sad but true.

Hope this helps........

9 year old Sony Trinitron TV 27 inch; a red light is flashing "standby, timer"; have tried to cancel this but the TV won't turn on, just hear a clicking sound when pushing the power button

The key here is the number of blinks. The standby light should blink a count followed by a few second pause with the count repeating. That count coupled with the model number will giveme enough information to provide you with a solution. Can you uipdate this with that info please?

What does 3 flashes on the standby light on a Thomson scenium 44jw 611s mean

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it.This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times.Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here.It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.
Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given.Surf the site with patience.

Hello. You might try to re solder the power supply and deflection area, Also the common problems of this TV are the capacitors that lose value. But I think you have loose connections on the card. Good luck, if you have any questions, I'm here to help you with more details. thanks

It's the problem of overheating in the power supply board of the TV.on the power supply board of the TV there are few capacitors and IC.any of this ic is got short or may be due to this when you start the TV the current passes from electric outlet to the power supply board of TV.but when the current passes from that weak/faulty part at that time current gets stopped or slow and the board overheats and TV shuts off. this is a common problem faced by many other users too.the possible option to solve this issue is to check the power supply board by a meter and continuity tester and replace the faulty component on the board which is short due to which power supply board is getting overheated.its bit technical job but yes its not at all a costly repair to do or get it done by the technician. for required parts it can be easily available from local electronic hardware shop.
This will help you in solving the problem....
