Maxtor one touch II

Make sure you remove old software from Onetouch II (two) first and restart computer... then download software from this link http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?locale=en-US&name=ot3-maxbu-vista&vgnextoid=c42f69a859d63110VgnVCM100000f5ee0a0aRCRD
It is Onetouch III (three for VISTA) your computer will still recognize the TWO version and will ask you to allow the install. Once you install and run software it wll ask you for old password you assigned when you ran the drive on XP. Just enter and you are good to go. :-)
Worked like a charm for me.

This doesn't require downloading anything, installing anything, or holding your mouth in a certain way.


1) Plug the drive into power and into your Vista PC's USB port.
2) When the 'Found New Hardware' wizard pops up, click the recommended option. When it says it can't find the drivers, select 'Show me other options', and then Browse your computer for drivers. Choose the C:\ drive, and click next.**

**The key here is that Windows Vista comes pre-installed with the drivers for the Maxtor external hard drives. So they're on your PC, even if the Wizard tells you they're not.

4) Wait a few minutes, and yo will see a window that reads, "The software for this device has been successfully installed," and now it will appear as a drive letter under 'Computer'.
