Hi,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

To your concern, initially pls try:

  • remove the memory sticks;
  • clean both slots with a clean dry toothbrush/paintbrush. You could also use a can of compressed air or an electronic contact cleaner spray;
  • clean the little gold pins of the memory using a pencil eraser.
  • If the above is not sufficient to address the issue, pls try resetting your CMOS/BIOS to default condition.
This is of course assuming that there is no hardware fault.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

1988 Chev half ton kills battery. Put in new battery and starts right away. Ran it for about 20min then shut it off. Tried to restart and battery is completely dead. Needs boost to restart.

Have your starting system checked for starter draw.If the starter is drawing to many amps it will draw the battery down very quickly.Also have your charging system load tested to make sure the alternator is charging properly.Hope this helps.Good luck.

I had a 1 gb ram on the my Asus P5VD2-MX mother board and tried adding 2 gb to the 2nd slot but computer alarm sounds. I swapped the 1 gb to the 2nd slot and alarm sounded again?? It seems the 2nd slot...

 you put the 2 gb in the first slot(that's the default setting on all motherboards-the biggest memory is in front) then in the second slot the 1 gb after that restart if you get the same sound the remove the battery on the motherboard and put it back to reset the bios after that restart.

Dell 6000 Inspirion wont boot after trying to replace RAM

use ac power
try the 1 gig in each slot make sure it's secure.
If system still won't boot
then restart and try to get into bios setup
then set to default settings restart
if still not successful then replace the old ram make sure it's secure in the slots and restart
Then i would suggest taking new ram back and if you give them your make and model they can suggest ram for you

Motherboard boot problem

Hi,

try resetting to bios defaults.
Also if your using dual-channel memory modules, ensure it,s enabled in the bios setup.
alternatively, try ram in different slots.

Thankyou for using Fixya.

Hi - benimur

Pls check:
  • if CPU heatsink fan turning;
  • if heatsink is flat on CPU and tight;
  • if PSU exhaust fan turning;
  • if Video Card heatsink fan turning;
  • with a voltmeter, pls check consistency of the yellow and red wires (+12 and +5);
  • pls inspect capacitors near the CPU, none should be blistered, bulging are leaking;
  • remove the HDD connection and observe it will restart, if no, then probably a driver/software issue.
