Sharp R-1850A Mocrowave Convection - No power

Its located in my2000 Airstream RV and while running on my generator if drew too much power and stalled my generator. When I got home and plugged the RV into shore power it tripped a the microwave circuit breaker. I reset the breaker and the Microwave has no power, also my coffee maker that was pugged into the same wall socket also will not work. Theres power to the wall socket so I believe the microwave blew and took my coffee maker with it?

No the Microwave unit is completely dead. My generator on the RV has surged for quite some time, but that's another problem that I've tried to repair without any success.

Same problem Sharp Model R 1850A in my motorhome. Lost partial power in the motorhome while on shore power. Replaced a breaker and the microwave has no power and plug is hot. No lights nothing on the microwave. Nor can I get my Direct TV receiver to work and the sat elite won't tune in, perhaps because the receiver isn't working. Called Direct TV and they were excited the receiver is on the road at not the address on the account. I pay for three receivers and the other two are in a home I own in Texas. They said I was frau ding them and need another account for the receiver in the motor home. Am frustrated about the whole affair. I guess I need to replace the microwave and hoping it will fit the cabinet where the old one was. Does anyone have any ideas,. cjopfer@aol.com

I would suspect a spike or surge from the generator.

The coffee maker may not be economical for repair. Normally they have a thermal cutout in the power line.

When you plug it in is there a display?
Does the light come on when you open the door?

It may have a blown fuse, and/or the circuit board may need repair.

We see that a lot, but please reply back with clarification so we can help you.

I have a 15" lcd tv rated at 40 watts in my RV using an 8 ft. grounded power cord. I want to use the same 120 volt outlet that I have my microwave, rated at 13 amps when on high. The circuit breaker is 15 amp. Should I be able to run both from the same 120 outlet without a problem?

Chances are if the internal fuse and magnetron thermostat are good, then you have a circuit board that needs repair.

You can probably find exploded views at the Sears parts site. If you find a bad thermostat, the best place to order Sharp parts is Tritronics.

We regularly repair these control panels for customers nationwide (RV owners & dealers, too) with our guaranteed $39.95 service.

Feel free to contact me directly for more information & help.

Loud popping noise after being plugged into 50 amp power source possible power surge unit in rv unit light still works but no power to make unit work.

What happens a lot in these RV microwaves is that a surge will damage the circuit board and sometimes also blow the low voltage transformer.

These are problems we can usually take care of for $39.95 and $54.95 respectively.

You can get more information here.

I have a Sharp R-1850A and the microwave does not work. The convection works along with all the lights and controls. I have had the problem fixed once before by an rv dealer but the problem seems...

Is there any unusual noise or is it louder than normal?

A loud buzz, hum, or groan is usually a shorted high voltage rectifier diode, but a sound like gurgling into an empty coffee mug is one symptom of a failed magnetron, and yet the mag can be bad without that sound.

We have a sound clip of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high voltage section are working.

The service manual is here:

You can order parts from Encompass here or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

Here are some links you or someone you know can use (in order given) for test help, but read the safety warnings first:

(if it is NOT shorted or burned looking, it's probably fine)

(continuity can be good even though mag is bad!)

Microwave lost all power while running and breakers and fuses are fine.

My maytag just did the same thing. Unplugged everything and let it set for 30 minutes. Just tried it and it came back. Hope you have the same luck.

Hit with 220V and now nothing.

I think the control boards are still available for this unit. No doubt the '220' blew the front end of the power supply.

Fuse

There's only one main power fuse, and it's located behind the control board assembly. Once you remove the board, you should see the fuse mounted in it's own clip. They're sometimes mounted on the white plastic bracket housing the door switches.
