Dometic RM761 Hi, I also have the same problem. The unit does get warm outside, but no cooling inside. When we first opened the door we did get a strong amonia smell. How do we find out if our model was inculded in the safety recall? Thank you,

Why does Unit freeze things in fridge compartment?

Adjust the thermistor down. It is a white wire in a plastic clip attached to a cooling fin inside the refrigerator. If there a formation of ice/frost inside the refrigerator you have an introduction of outside air which is usually caused by bad door seals.

Refrigerator not cooling on electricty or gas

You will first want to ensure the RV is level.
If the RV is level, then open the rear access vent door on the side of the RV to access the rear of the refrigerator. Feel the coils just above the tank on the cooling system. These coils should be warm to the touch. If they are warm and the refrigerator is not cooling then you will require a replacement cooling unit. Also, the most common area for the Dometic 2652 to leak is just above the propane burner area. If it has leaked, you should see a yellow residue in that area. The cooling unit can be changed in approximately 2-3 hours with no specialized tools needed (Arcticold offers 7 day a week free tech support). The old cooling unit will simply unbolt and the new one bolts in. Check out ArctiCold Refrigeration We keep it cold (the highest quality product available) Arcticold New Cooling units come standard with a Lifetime Warranty. Install instructions are also provided with the cooling unit. Arcticold has locations across North America to provide fast delivery. I have a Dometic RM2652 refrigerator. The unit works on A/C power, but not gas! What could be wrong? Thank you!

If you open vent/cover outside and listen, then switch to propane operation, do you hear it clicking (trying to light) at all? ( make sure it's calling for cool such as leave door open for a while prior)

Not cooling in hot temps

Double check clearances around fridge, which should be zero on sides and top, as well as check baffle in stack, which should be 1-7/8" above burner. Also check door gaskets with paper (it should drag through when doors closed. Does the burner stay lit when on propane, even though temperature is increasing inside fridge?

My Dometic trailer refridgerator is warm but freezer is freezing.

Brandi4723,

Unfortunately, you have a bad cooling unit in your refrigerator. Then ammonia smell means that you have a leak in the unit. TURN THE FRIDGE OFF!!! Do not use the fridge on AC or Gas until you have the cooling unit replaced or buy a new fridge. Depending on the model number and serial number of the fridge, it may be under recall by dometic and you might be able to have it repaired for free. If you will provide me with the model number, serial number and the serial number of the cooling unit (found on the outside of the unit in the fridge compartment, lower tank of cooling unit), I can then tell you the pricing of the repairs or whether it is under recall.

Again, TURN THE FRIDGE OFF and do not use it...RISK OF FIRE!!!!

Hope this helps,

Jeff
