You need to go to the t9 dictionary and delete that sentence. When you were typing a text one time you must of have typed that sentence and clicked add to dictionary so now when you type hello it will fill in that sentence. So if you were to go to your t9 dictionary you can delete that sentence and it will not do that anymore.

Sometimes it will pop extra words up like that for me, but i found that if you just ignore it and keep typing, they will go away. try it :)

When I text I get an underline and I can't get anything but the first letter of a 3 letter set on the keys

You must disable your Predictive text option, T9® predictive text mode allows you to type words with only one keystroke per letter, and the phone interprets what word you want. For example, to type the, press 8, 4, 3. To enable/disable T9® predictive text mode, select Options. Scroll to and select Prediction on or off.

Is it my imagination or is it true my new env3 does not support t9 or preemptive text?

From the front screen and keyboard:
(i.e. with the phone closed)
While entering a message, hit the main "OK" button for "Options".
Item #2 in this menu is "Entry Mode."
T9 is on this list.

Operating from the internal LCD screen and QWERTY keyboard:
Hit OK to get to main menu
Select "Messages"
Once in that menu, the left option key beneath the main LCD screen is "Settings" - hit that
On that menu, item #2 is "Entry Mode" where you can select T9

I have read of difficulties getting the enV3 T9 mode to add new "user" words that you might want to program into the T9 dictionary, so don't be surprised if you have trouble with that.

Predictive text on Samsung Propel

Well it's not so much a solution as it is an answer.

T9 is 9-key Texting. So it will only predict what you're going to type if you're using the 9-key triple tap mode of texting.

It WILL NOT intelligently select options of what it thinks you are typing on the QWERTY keyboard.

I've had this phone for less then a week & so far that would be my only suggestion for improvement. Otherwise, it's an awesome lil' phone for what I use it for.

Typing * symbol

This is a problem with LG's T9 autocomplete database that affects other LG phones as well.

I have a solution, but it's not for the feint of heart. It requires BitPim (bitpim.org). BitPim is a great app that does a lot more than fix this problem. It can be used to backup the data (calendar, contacts, notes etc) on your fone onto your own computer as well. Be warned though, it's not very user-friendly and it can be a hassle to get it set up at first.

You can learn more about BitPim from here.

Anyway, assuming you have BitPim working and talking with your phone (don't ask me about this part, see the link above)

Open BitPim, and look through the phone's Filesystem. This selection isn't shown by default. On a mac (and probably PC too), go to the view menu, then select "View Filesystem". "Filesystem" with a brown drawer icon will appear in the left hand column of the main window.

After the data is loaded from your phone, scroll down to "t9udb" folder in the second column. In the pane that loads, right click on "t9udb_eng.dat" and delete it. Restart your phone and the problem will be gone, and you can go back to using T9.

You will lose your saved t9 autocompletes, but you'll also get rid of this bug temporarily. This is a recurring problem, so you might have to delete this file every once in awhile. One way I've found to prevent this problem is to always type a space after a symbol. IE To type out "$260", I would type $ - space - CLR - 2 - 6 - 0
As annoying as this is, using this method is better than having to deal with all the weirdness that happens through regular use.

Good luck

Reset Symbol Recognition?

This happens because you have your enV text entry mode set to "Word". Undoubtedly, you did this for the same reason I did - to get T9 mode working when you text from the front keypad with the phone CLOSED, instead of from the QWERTY keyboard with the phone OPEN.

If you go to Messages->Settings->ALL Msg->Entry Mode and set it to Abc instead of Word, your problem should go away.
