Sounds like the parking pinn or [pawl] Inspect the parking pawl as it is likely broken. The pawl is a metal pin that engages the transmission's gear when the transmission is in the "Park" position. The pawl manually locks the transmission's gears and is located on the interior side of the transmission's manual control linkage
