Question about Sony Televison & Video

5 Answers

I have a Sony kdl-46s2000 tv. Whenever I press on the wide button, under "mode" on the remote, all I ever get is the message "feature not available for current signal". Currently the picture is too wide for the screen. Everytime a message comes on that's on the right or left side of the TV, it's cuttoff. The TV's connected to a satellite dish and I've tried setting it up in different configurations, but nothing works. I'm at a total loss and would appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you.

Try an analog antenna first if you have one to identify if its the dish or the tv. Using different cables going to dish can also be done.

Try to play a DVD or a CD just to check if the display will be better , because if the display ok when playing a DVD or CD the prpblem here can be the signal from your Dish..

Hope that helps........

If you have a option to reset the settings of your Tv try that one and that should bring your television back to its deafult settings..

I think this has to do with the satellite dish not liking the encryption thing going on with the sony tv. The dish probably don't understand it fully and therefore you have intermittant problems. ....

How to change to screen size on control what button

Hello, on the Sony remote in the darker gray area is the "wide" button (second row, second button), press it until your set is in the "full" mode. If your screen is still not filled out, it may be the cable box or satellite receiver that needs to be set. With the tv in "full" mode, then set your cable box or satellite receiver to the proper screen setting by using the "format" button on your cable box or satellite receiver remote. 80c70867-1f89-4715-95f8-6e187b94054c.jpg

Cannot change aspect ratio of picture when ratio button is pressed on remote. Batteries in remote are good. Everything else on remote works. Sony KP-57HW40

If you are connected to a HD cable or satellite box, the aspect ratio is set by that box. If it is set for 1080i 16:9 wide screen mode then your TV is locked at that ratio. This is good considering you have a Hi-Scan 1080i television in the Sony KP57HW40. Please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks...

TV is stuck in expanded picture mode & won't return to normal

seems to me as a Sony TV. The sony tv has this feature ready in the menu. you can do zoom out ,standard etc,
But the real problem comes when the tv is turn off and then you get back to turn on the tv (lets say next day)and you find the same big heads.
what you have to do is going to the menu same thing but this time look for an option is called picture size default. This option make learn the memory what size you want custom when tv is turn on.This function is in the same page as the picture size page (refer to the user's manual) but has to be the default mode where you want the change.
The problem with sizes now days is some shows fit perfect some others not. and besides that the cable box has those features too(change size of the screen)

What i do in this sony tv to start first is keeping it in the standard size in the tv menu and i defaulted too.

when some size adjustment is needed i do it in the cable box remote control .Once again this example i do it in SONY tv, Maybe you have to post the problem again if the tv is different brand.

I have a T5054 TV and the picture has zoomed in and is way too big, however in the picture settings menu the zoom option is not highlighted in Component mode.

There could be a problem, but verify the settings as listed in the owner's manual as follows:

1 Press the MENU button to display the menu.
Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select Picture, then press the ENTER button.
2 Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select Size, then press the ENTER button.
3 Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select the screen format you want.
Press the ENTER button.
Press the EXIT button to exit.
16:9 : Sets the picture to 16:9 wide mode.
Zoom1 : Magnifies the size of the picture on the screen.
Zoom2 : Expands the Zoom1 format picture.
Wide Fit : Enlarges the aspect ratio of the picture to fit the entire screen.
4:3 : Sets the picture to 4:3 normal mode.
Just Scan : Use this function to see the full image without any cutoff when DTV
or HDMI 720p/1080i signals are input.
Press the P.SIZE button on the remote control to change the picture size.

And realize the restrictions as listed:

• In TV, VIDEO, S-VIDEO, and COMPONENT(480i, 480p) modes, all screen
modes can be selected. (16:9 ➞ Zoom1 ➞ Zoom2 ➞ 4:3)
• In COMPONENT(720p, 1080i) or HDMI(720p, 1080i) mode, 16:9, 4:3 and
Wide Fit can be selected.
• In Zoom1, Zoom2 and Wide Fit modes, you can move the picture on the
screen by pressing the ▲ or ▼ button.
•You can not change the picture size when PIP is set to Double.
•When Double ( , ) mode has been set in PIP, the Picture Size cannot
be set.
•Wide Fit can be used when watching a Digital HD (High Definition) signal.
Wide Fit sets the optimum picture format by expanding it both horizontally and
vertically. For example, you can reset the picture in 4:3 format to 16:9. Wide Fit
does not support all external devices (DVD, VCR etc.).
