The red light is on and it says when the red light is lit turn off, unplug, and consult manual, I inherited this one from my mother and do not have a manual. The vacuum will not run.. feels hot. Where can I find out the problem or an instruction manual?
You have got to be kidding me. you want me to pay for your advice after I paid over $2,000 for this vaccum. Not only that, the sales rep that sold the filter queen to me, stole my Oreck vac right out my livingroom. I did not realize until after he left that it was gone. He did mention at the beginnng of the demo that if I bought the filter queen he would take my other one. I had no intention of giving him my Oreck even though I did buy the filter queen. You sales reps go way to far.
Im a Filterqueen Associate. Majestics staring from 20 years ago have a double lifetime warranty. what that means is that if your majestic isnt working for whatever reason call the 1-800 number in your manual. they will do the labor for free to fix your machine no matter what it takes and they cannot charge you more then 99 dollars for parts, what that means is if the engine has to replaced then it wont cost you 500 bucks for the engine but 99 bucks.

That's the thermal cut off circuit. If the motor gets to hot it trips and shuts it off. When it cools down it will turn on again but it is generally an indicator of one of the following; the cone filter needs changed or the inner filter ring that sits above the motor inside the unit is shot. One is an easy change the other requires dis-assembly, better carried out by a vac tech if you aren't comfortable taking it apart. In the meantime remove the cap out of the top of the vacuum, that will let it exhaust heat better but I strongly recommend getting that filter ring changed.
The red light on the filter Queen is on to tell you to empty the canister and change the filter. It is a heat sensor that makes it come on and if it is full it gets hot. Also when you take the motor piece off of the bucket under the nylon cone shaped guard that protects the motor there is a secondary filter in there that needs to be changed from time to time and they are supplied with the cones inside the package of rep[lacement cones there should be a spare or maybe two. It is a round thin filter about 3.5 inches across and it just fits in very easily and there is a plastic ring that holds it in place. So pop out the ring and remove the old one and then replace it with the new one put the ring in to hold it...it just snaps into place.replace the nylon guard and put in a new filter cone. Put the machine back together and away you go the light should turn off and you are good to go. Thanks for your time and please try to remember to click on the yes box if this was any help to you at all.
Your problem could be many things, causing it to over heat, you need service by and Certified Tech. You can call the home office at 800-344-1840 to find an Authorized Service Center near you. Do not take it to a vac shop or you could end up with more problems than before.

http://geeksquad.fixya.com/ThreadView.aspx?prdid=20820&thid=676660 How to empty? Posted by jchale55 on Jun 16, 2008 I inherited this Filter Queen "Cheetah" (but it isn't black ... chrome) and don't know how to empty the thing. Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The Filter Queen uses a cone filter and there are 2 or 3 clamps to release to remove the cone and then you dump the dirt sitting in the bottom of the canister and then replace the new cone filter and repeat the process. If you have further question feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer.
