Question about Mitsubishi VS-60601 60" Rear Projection Television

Picture one day, no picture the next

My wife turned off the VS60601 [serial 108445 purchased 5/98] after watching the Olympics and went to bed. Next day she turned it on, the green power light works, the sound works, but absolutely no picture, not even "blue screen" when cycling through the 'input' button. Picture quality did NOT seem diminished in any way prior to the failure. I'm thinking a fuse or the like but can't tell where they are. Or the power supply to the 3 tubes is out? Or? This is the first problem with the set in 10 years.

Hi,
If you are tech-person, can understand it easily. TV needs G2 or Screen Voltage adjustment and its not big problem and if your non-tech person, let me know to guide you further.

This can be problem with the tube itself, because for almost 10 years you never had problem with this TV and now the tube may got bad already and may need a replacement already...

Good luck.........

You can try a hard reset: Unplug TV from AC mains and remove all cables from TV. Wait about 30 minutes and replug to AC power and redo the cabling. Switch on the TV and see if it works..

Some kind of power surge may have damaged the high voltage power supply in the TV. The problem may only be a fuse for the hv power supply section. To be sure that the hv power supply is running or not try bringing up the on screen menu. If you do not see the menu you may want to take off the rear cover and look at the ends of the picture tubes to see if they are glowing slightly with the TV turned on. If you do see the picture tubes lit up, the problem is most likely a no video problem

The clicking you hear is probably caused by a relay that controls the incoming AC to the main power supply. This is a protective reaction to a problem in the power supply itself or an overload due to a failure downstream from the supply. This is not a likely DIY repair. You will probably need a technician to determine which of these two likely problems it is.

VS60601 Picture yesterday, none today

That model will usually leak coolant directly onto the vertical output area and that will put the tubes into protective blanking and you will have sound but no picture.
