Franklin Chef wine cooler

Our Franklin Chef wine cooler doesn't cool. It was working fine, then I unplugged it for the week I was on vacation. I can hear it "hum" when plugged in, but it doesn't cool the wine.

I have the same issue. The cooler was working fine, then it slowly started getting warmer and cooling down, and now it will not cool down at all. I unplugged it overnight, and plugged it back in, but it still will not cool.

Our power to the Cooler was out for a week and now it won't start. The lights are on and you can reset the temperature but it isn't running.

SOURCE: Power Consumption - Magic Chef Wine Cooler

The unit will draw between 6 and 12 amps on start up and running it should use less than 1.6 amps. The start up amps will increase with age. Funny how that works the same for people as it does for machines. I hope this will FixYa. Please dont forget to rate. Mike

Sorry to break it to y'all, but Everstar went out of business (probably bankrupt). There's nothing filing a lawsuit would do now.

SOURCE: Magic Chef Wine Cooler Model MCWC44DZ Where can I

On the Magic Chef site you can order parts for the cooler. I took mine out and treid to find them on the web somewhere else and could not locate them anywhere except China and England. I know this isn't true but tried every search option I could think of. They are about $22 plus shipping (HIGH). My beverage cooler MCBC58DST wont stay cool after it reaches target temp.

Throw it out and get another model from another company. Their units are junk!
They last a year, at best. Them and Magic Chef are one and the same...so you may have to bite the bullet and get a real unit.

Good luck. I speak from experience...I've had four now. Complete junk!!

You have troubleshot this thing well. You may have a capacitor problem or starter problem. It will not be design let the unit come on. This is all to protect the expensive compressor.

The alarm in our Franklin Chef model FWC100 wine cooler keeps going off even though everything stays cool so we want to know how to turn off the alarm or cut the wire to the alarm. Thanks.

Love this machine. Works great. Have had it for 6 years. Now it has a problem. The lights and fan work, and the temperature settings work. It behaves like either the freon is low (I don't hear the compressor starting), or whatever causes the compressor to start is crippled... Fuse looks good, nothing visibly burned on the motherboard, haven't opened the bottom.

Magic Chef MCWC30MCG not getting cold?

You need to replace the Ptc unit attached to the compressor. Go to REPAIR CLINIC.COM and order the following part. 1206838 Ptc relay. They also will show you were it is located and how to replace it. Compressor tanks very rarely go bad. It is an $11.00 dollar part

Would suggest you try a distributor for this cabinet as sometimes they have more leeway with the supplier. Looking through sites would suggest someone like BeverageFactoy.com may have a route to the spares youre after. Hope this helps.
