The WEP or WPA is the password to get onto the network. Think of the router as the doorman. The printer needs to get into the club so it needs the password otherwise it can't get access.

The WEP key and WPA passphrase are obtained from the wireless router or access point using the embedded web server on the router. See the documentation provided with your router to see how to access this information. Some routers provide more than one WEP key. Use the first WEP key if this is the case.

On my HP photosmart how do I find my WPA Passphrase. I have a Nexxt solutions wireless-N broadband router and Cable & Wireless TP Link, routers. I live in Panama, Central America

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router'swireless settings configured ie SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption key and also thewireless cards in all the laptops and or computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicatewith your wireless router.

I am setting up a wireless printer and am being asked for a WPA passphrase. Where can I find this?

Hi Friend, In this case I would like to tell you that the WPA passphrase is set in the router's page. So, you will find the passphrase on the router's graphical user interface.
however, I would also like to tell you that the WPA passphrase is the same key that you have set for the wireless network to connect to the Internet

Need WPA need passphase

You can get those passphrase's or key generated codes by going into the routers administration web page. Not sure which router you have but the typical address is either 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1. Open up your browser and type these one at a time into your URL address bar. Once you get into the web page you should find a tab that says Security Settings or something similar. There you will find the WPA passphrase and the key codes needed to connect your printer to the network. I have found the key codes are needed for WPA setups. Hope this helps
