Graphics card driver keeps uninstalling

Quite often the grphics driver un-installs itself, the drivers disc wont fix it the driver is an nvida 6600 i think but at the moment it has a generic? driver.
the only way i can get it back to some readable graphics is to install vista home basic , go through the motions and when it says the system is incompatable and will shut down i let it shut down remove the vista disc and start it up again and bingo back in all it's glory, it's ok for awhile and then it goes again.
any ideas please i have had enough of it and want to sell

I have done a clean install as there was nothing worth saving and it is still the same.

I am not trying to install vista, sorry i was trying to install vista(out of desperation) but it said it was not compatible with the laptop,so when i re-started it the system was back to normal and exactly the right size, now the screen has gone big again after it was ok for a week, ie;640x480 on a 17" screen when i checked in the device manager the "other devices" has a question mark against it and also these other one's

    - ?other devices

? modem device on high definition audio bus

    ? network controller

    ? video controller (vga compatible)

all the other drivers are there.

I have just tried to download lavasoft but again when i click on it the internet page disappears.

    It's back to you easyq

OK first of all, graphics card driver can intact UN install hemselvea. The other Guy that said they couldn't was wrong and spoke out of turn. I am in fact a licenced computer tech, and one of my computers is intact having the same issue. The drivers keep UN installing them selves and the I get the BSOD. I have the latest drivers from Nvidia. Still no solution to this. I believe it has something to do with old dump files having some active code that the system can still read. Look into it my Friend. And good luck.

Strange, first of all, before you do anythign else, create a restore point. If anything goes wrong, you simply restore from here. Now you got it working, try ro tun some antivirus and antspyware software on it, probably the result will be not muc, but at least you are sure nothing is there. Also, what exactly did you do by doing the vista thing, as it seems something is updating/upgrading some drivers solving the problem.

Drivers cannot uninstall themselves, there will mostlikely be something else wrong.
First i suggest to run a proper anitvirusscan on your entire drive, than perform a mallware scan (using addaware, downloadable via www.lavasoft.com) and delete or quarantine all infected files.

after that, download and install this file:
http://www.brothersoft.com/everest-home-edition-61488.html
it will tell you exactly which graphics card you have and which drivers are installed. Also check the monitor settings and see if there are updated drivers available and if the correct drivers are installed, this could be casing windows to use different drivers than the correct one.

Please let me know if this solved your problem.

I think your problem is not a graphical issue but a software issue. As long as you are unable to download any files because pages close, i think the best thing to do is save all your data on a separate partition of your HD on a backupdevice and make a clean reinstall, than download the file and start downloading and updating all drivers.

Before you start doing this, are you sure your laptop is Vista complient?

The problem is most likely the video controller which doesnot hav ethe correct drivers and therefor cannot display correctly. Is there anyway you can download on a different location or other PC so you can download the everest file? Than put it on a USB stick in order to get to know all details about your laptop and download the correct drivers (again from that other PC/location) so at least your screensize problem would be solved.

If you do have acces to your email, drop me a line at dutchie at isknetter.nl so i can send you the everest file via email (remove spaces and at is ofcourse @).

OK, you are doing the right thing, download and install the Nvidia 6800 drivers for XP again, make sure you download the latest version from the nvidia site.

Than, note your motherboard brand and model, visit the manufacturers site and download all drivers for XP and install them one by one (mostly after each install you have to reboot, do it, do not first install all drivers and than restart, to avoid things going wrong).
Let me know if it worked.

My screen keeps flashing on and off wen instaled windows 7

Solution
1 Check to see if you nvida card is compatible with the version of windows 7 32 bit or 64 bit what ever is in stalled ( Make sure Operation system is genuine )
2 Download latest drivers from nvida if drivers are compatible ( That Nivda card is very old your trying to install and could be damaged witch would cause the screen to flash )
3 If problem Continues and you cant install drivers because u cant see the screen try booting up in safe mode by hitting f8 before window screen boots up start in safe mode with networking or if your motherboard has on board video boot up and install drivers that way
4 Still all that dont work take your broke *** to the store and buy a better video card

Slow scrolling after instlalling nvidia geforce 6600 update drive

Download & run this Nvidia driver cleaner from Guru3d.com: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745

Afterwards, install these older tweaked Nvidia drivers from Guru3d.com:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1814

Please note that the newest NVidia drivers does not always work with older cards, even when they're "supposed to".

DirectX9.0c capable graphics card

It's not about driver. There are card which do not support Dx9 like nVidia GeForce 4 MX500. Those cards can play only up to Dx8 games and there are cards like GeForce 4 Titanium 4200 which are not support fully Dx9. On them you can play Dx9 games, but without some features. Since you didn't give me a name of your card, solution is hard to say.

Problem with ASUS Geforce 6600, 256MB, AGP8x

Its most likely drivers. Completely uninstall all Geforce drivers and and software. Some video uninstall programs only remove the software and not the drivers. You'll need to go into device manager and uninstall the video drivers from there. Double check to make sure MX440 drivers are gone as well. When you restart and windows wants to install your new card, cancel it, then run the Geforce setup program. That way you won't get conflicts with a windows basic driver. Then make sure you have Directx 9c installed. Directx 10 isn't necessary because I don't believe the 6600 supports it anyway.
Good luck

Did you try installing and updating the driver of the graphics card dedicated to the operating system "VISTA" ? Sometimes there is some difference between vista's driver and XP's driver.
