You just right click on the d drive and select explore or double click it, there won't be anything in the drive apart from maybe a system back up file.

when in there make a new folder called programme files

If you have a lot of programmes installed on your c drive, then uninsatl them and reinstall again, but when the option comes up to install in a specific folder choose 'D' drive then choose programme files folder, the programme will then be installed there, but will still put an icon on your desktop as normal.

you can also transfer any video or music to the d drive, just make a folder in the d drive called music and video, select your music you wish to move select 'Cut' then open the folder on the 'D' drive and select paste.

Also run this free programme to clear your system up

Test your computer using a brand new hard drive. 1GB memory is enough. I am sure this is a software problem (messy registry or problematic apps or malware) or space problem (the hard drive is almost full).

MY DATA (D:) IS NEARLY FULL

Hard disk maintenance should be carried once a month to make your computer run efficiently. This removes redundant and temporary files, recovers disk space and speed up hard disk access. Disk Cleanup should be done first - Click My Computer - then right click on the C drive then click Properties, then click Disk Cleanup - let it examine the C drive then it will calculate the amount of disk space it will recover, tick all the boxes to recover the maximum disk space and then Click OK and then Yes to perform these actions. If you have a D drive then repeat these steps on this drive too. Next the C drive needs to be Defrag. This process converts fragmented files into continuous files and this speeds up disk access and makes the hard disk not work as hard. Click on Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Defragmenter - click to highlight the C drive and click Analyse - then click Defragment. Repeat Defrag for the D drive.

Hello I have an ascer aspire ast 180 ea381b with 160 gb of memory and it is always telling me that I am low on disk space. the C drive has 71.9 GB but only 4.3 M free. The D driver has 71.6 GB and 68.4...

4.3 GB is very less for current day windows versions (you have not specified what version of windows is installed in your computer). Please move some of your files like music, movies, photographs and documents to the D drive and free up the C drive. Ensure you free up atleast 15 GB in your C drive. Also try removing / uninstalling unwanted programs installed in your computer.

I tried to install Windows XP and now it only sees half the hard disk of 320 GB that is only 160.

Hi, You can check the available **** space on your computer by going to Disk Management Utility in Windows XP. You can go to the utility by going to run then typing compmgmt.msc > then click on Disk Management > this utility will indicate the free space and also will give the total size of you hard disk drive. See if there is an unallocated disk space on the computer. You can right-click on it then choose to format it and then assign a disk drive letter like drive d: . Thank you for choosing Fixya.com for resolving your issue

Drive C, full

Save all your files, your disk is risking to collapse at any time.
You cannot efficently run Vista on a 10 GB hard disk.
Minim efficient size it will be 40 GB or so.

Delete as many useless files as you can, use the hard drive cleaning tool that you find under all programs/accessories/system tools.

To save your file you can use the backup option in control panel, and save all files to an external USB stick or external hard drive or, do not use CD RW because the disk is full and there will be no space for disk image on hard drive.

If you want to keep using Vista I suggest replacing the hard drive for a bigger one.

I have an ACER ASPIRE 5720 laptop - it is less than a year old and it is showing the memory is full - the memory is meant to be 32 GB and from what I can see from the programme menus there is less than 4...

Hi j0shuatsb,
Acer like many other manufactures seem to design their system to fail or have issues just after their 1 year warranty is up. Like other Microsoft windows operating systems, when you receive an error message that you're memory is full. This does not mean you have run out of RAM = memory. You're notebook can only run a max of 4GB of memory. The error message refers to hard disk drive space. Depending on you're operating system, windows will lock out so much drive space so it can move about. All notebooks also have a hidden partition which holds drivers & programs used in combination for running the system restore.
This hidden partition can range in size from 2GB up to 4GB.
This also lessens you're total hard disk drive space. Bottom line is there is nothing wrong with your memory.
What you need is a larger hard disk drive. Notice the Technical specifications from this link:
http://www.acer.co.uk/public/page9.do?sp=page4&dau34.oid=24360&UserCtxParam=0&GroupCtxParam=0&dctx1=17&CountryISOCtxParam=UK&LanguageISOCtxParam=en&ctx3=-1&ctx4=United+Kingdom&crc=512458878
It does not show what size you're SATA hard disk drive is.
Since you are still in warranty, now would be the time to increase you're drive size. On another note, if you're HDD is the standard 160GB than there is an issue with your current HDD.
Please run a full system virus scan.
Suggest you back up all you're personal data on to a DVD & run you're system restore CD including a format to help you regain you're HDD full space. A temporary fix would be to uninstall any non needed programs through Add/Remove programs. This should free up some space. Many Acer programs you do not use at all or need should be the first to go.

I have an Acer Aspire 3500 laptop & want to merge the logical drive D to primary drive C as the C drive keeps filling up & I get a Not Enough memory warning coming up the whole drive is only 40gb

Download Partition Magic (or some other Disk Partitioning tool) and delete the D:\, then resize the C:\ to maximum size. Note that this is not a foolproof process and you may lose all your data - so back it up before you begin.

Secondly, 40 Gb is a fair bit of space to have filled. Have you tried backing up any data (that is not essential on the Hard Drive) to DVD's or some other external storage device, and deleting Restore Points and Temporary files to clear up some space?

In both cases, defrag the disk after you have finished.

Good luck.
