Why do music and videos sometimes go missing from ipod touch is it because of some applications

I have the new update for the ipod touch. I just get the message "no content" in respect of music and videos and I then have to restore the ipod to get all my songs and videos back which is so frustrating. I did turn off the wi-fi last night and this morning my songs and videos are still there but that could just be a coincidence. I believe this is a problem that a lot of people seem to be having. Thanks for your help anyway.

Possible, have you updated your iPod using iTunes? because sometimes when the firmware on the iPod is old or has not been updated, this can happen.

Damaged hardware is responsible for the most obvious iPod sound problems. In such cases, Apple may be able to help you fix the problem, depending on the status of your warranty.
All iPods have a one-year warranty according to Apple's website.
Software problems can also affect your audio.
For example, downloading a non-certified Apple application can stop your sound from working correctly.
Returning your iPod to its original factory settings fixes many of these software glitches.

Plug in a different set of headphones and test the sound.
If that set works, your old headphones were the cause of your audio problems.

If your iPod still doesn't work, proceed.
Remove an application on your iPod Touch if you installed it right before your sound stopped working.
Hold your finger over the top left corner of the application.
It will shake.
Touch the "X." Touch the "Home" button.
Restore your iPod to fix other potential software problems.
Open iTunes. Plug the iPod into your computer with a USB cord.
Click on your iPod on the left-hand menu.
The iPod will be listed under the name you assigned it when you first set it up.
Click the "Restore" button on the menu.
Leave the iPod alone while it restores. It may take several minutes.
Test the sound once the restore is complete.
The iPod syncs after restoration.
Once the sync is complete, the process is over.
Contact the Apple Technical Support line at 1-800-275-2273 if your audio still doesn't work.
Have your iPod with you.

Missing, wanted applications

Your screwed cause the applications are erased and replaced with all the **** you got on your computer when you first connected the thing.  There are free utilities that will allow you to reverse sync the data (from ipod to computer instead of from computer to ipod), but your supposed to do that first.
Now you got to pay like everyone else and contribute to Steve Job's medical bills.  Although, some of the applications were probably free, so you can just re-download them.
