Sony TV KP-51HW40 solid red lights [timer/standby+stereo]
this is my first post and first problem [hopefully the last aswell]...
i have a sony TV, model#KP-51HW40. it was working just fine until this friday. we had lots of rain and our basement got flooded. since TV was on the floor [its a huge unit with its on base-stand]...bottom part of the tv stand got wet. since we were busy trying to take care of water no one paid any attention to the TV. but when we did, it didn't work. the timer/standby and stereo red lights at the front were ON and SOLID. they are not blinking at all, just solid red lights for both stereo and timer/stand by. how can i fix this problem? i don't have any manual or TV orioginal remote. all i have is a universal remote.

This might be a convergence amplifier problem or a problem in the convergence coils. I would suggest that you have a qualified TV technician check this TV out. This problem is usually due to the convergence amplifiers malfunctioning, to replace then the two modules and their biasing resistors must be replaced.
TURN TIMER OFF. GO TO SONY.COM, TROUBLESHOOTING, OR
The STANDBY light is flashing on the television and there is no picture or sound.
The STANDBY light will flash if an issue is detected within the television. This can sometimes be resolved by simply following the steps below to reset the television.
Turn off the television.
IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
Turn on the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required. Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.
