NEED A NEW SCREEN

Please check the cost of a new screen before you decide to buy one as the cost might be about 70% of the cost of a new TV. Also you have to be very carefully to install again with no warranty. So consider to scrap for spares and invest in a new model with added advantages and warranty.

Repetative clicking sound when tv is plugged in with no picture or sound like its unable 2 switch on

TV is very common for having a power failure issue. The problem resides in the Y-Sustain board in most cases. The HDTV Television also have the same issue as they all use the same PDP Panel (plasma panel).

Loud popping and loss of power is common on plasma TVs and is usually either the Y sustain or Z sustain boards or buffers; in these instances the damaged part will be quite evident.

If this is an LCD you might have degraded insulation on one of the pink/blue back light power leads causing high voltage to 'arc' to the chassis.

The loud bang and smell is actually to your advantage as in these circumstances the damaged part is usually evident. It'll just be a matter of popping the back off and sleuthing around

That's the sound of your power supply going bad. You will have to have it repaired by a professional television technician.

Before making any purchases, please check the part and make sure it is what your TV needs. I am simply making recommendations and trying to point you to the right direction.

Good luck.

I have a hdtv and the problem I have it goes out by itself while you watching it. The only way I can make it come back on is to unplug wait a minute or so and plug it back in but it varies how long it...

Try using a fan behind the HDTV It usually stays on as long as you want to watch it. But Don't bee fooled because the problem will still remain. Its just a temporary fix. If you are still covered by the warranty i would take advantage of that and have it fixed. If you are not then you are on your own. And thats my case. I am still trying to figure out how to fix my Plasma TV but no luck so far.
