Be like the first FORTAN, post ever in 25 years, wow, what a BLAST FROM THE PAST !
ID say you are missing some FORTARN LIBRARY"s

join a Fortran form? with old retired guys, there. form prime time circa 1970? or older?
this is a very old math based (formula) complied language.
It is a very limited and near useless Language. (used by bankers)
its totally obsolete now, finding all the pieces to make it work can be hard. for sure old long gone now, Libraries.
at link time those are RESOLVED.
yours fails there, it can find them.

id read the source and find those eternal links.
then see if the poor old sod put comments there.
like (this is advanced Trig functions in lib, xxxxx , sold by zzzzz0
it can be anything, the purpose of the program was not stated.

Click Start

96% setup was unable to create the program folder

I had the same problem, to solve it I repeat the installation and when the message "Setup was unable to create the program folder" I went to installation directory "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio" and I made a copy of the whole directory to another location in my hard drive. Then I back to installation screen and I accepted the message box. As it was expected original installation folder disappeared. I restored installation folder from the copy I had made previously. At last I created a short cut to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\MSDEV98\BIN\DFDEV.EXE" and started Visual Fortran from this shell without any problem. I hope this tip could be useful, regards. tbeltran

Reinstallation problem

Same error here. Compaq Visual Fortran 6.5/6.6.
I think is a problem related to Windows XP SP3.

- Solution:
Re-install Windows XP SP3 (integrated).
Right after installation (no reboot) run the CVF installer. It will work.
Then do normall installation stuff.
If you have Windows XP SP2 you won't have any problem.
Hope it helps.

Couldn't find ANY solution with SP3 installed before CVF installation.

Problem with Compaq Fortran & Vista

I found the solution fortunately:

It's enough to do a right click on the bottom: "Developer Studio" instead of double click, and select: "Run as Administrator" , then select: "Allow" and so on..

Try it, it works!

Compiling and linking in vista

Vista's not my favorite yet, either.

There could be a million reasons why it won't run, many of which you won't be able to do anything about.

That said, perhaps turning off the UAC security, defining another user as an administrator, and trying to run Fortran might help. At least you won't be running into the whole "run as administrator" nightmare.

But, here's another thought...

If you're machine is powerful enough, maybe you could use Virtual PC or VMWare to build an XP machine where it will run.

(I cut my programming teeth on Fortran, a looong time ago!)
