some of the keys, the e,r,d,s,2, keys are the ones that either repeat or not work at all, the laptop just bleeps on a cold boot but as soon as i touch one of the keys it boots, the right click +double tap functions dont work until its finished booting then i have to touch any key at all then its ok until the e or r keys are touched then they just keep repeating. i know this as i opened a notebook txt and watched the letters repeating... please note this is a LAPTOP so replacing it isnt very viable.
thanx guys for any useful tips.

Make sure that you have the correct regional settings in the control panel, local settings, if this is right then it could be that you have an english version keyboard so you can set the region settings in the same place via the control panel to uk then try and adjust the region to a custom set up.

Take care

When I turn on my acer, a loud beeping sound continues until I shut it off. What happened?

Those beeping noises are called, simply enough, a Beep Code. The continuous tone usually means that your computer has a bad memory stick (or multiple bad sticks). They will need to be replaced.

If the computer is under 1 year old, you can get this done for free under your manufacturer's warranty. Otherwise, the new memory will cost usually a minimum of $50, depending on where you buy it.

Acer Aspire 3690 series....i have no sound and i have dowunloaed the sound driver from the Acer website and it doesnt seem to work,,this is very frustrating. What do i do?

Go to control panel >> device manager and check what drivers you have. you might have 2 or more different drivers that are conflicting with each other. if you have windows 7, then you should try uninstalling all sound drivers from device manager and let windows reinstall it automatically upon restart. If somehow it doesn't install automatically, due to something that was disabled. you want to check if you installed the right drivers, from my knowledge there are sometimes many types of drivers for the same model computer. just make sure you have the right one. like search more specifically for your model. ex: acer 3690-2196 or 3690-2173 etc

My acer wont load when i first turn on, or load, gives 2 loud beep

Sounds like the hard drive is going bad. Take out the hard drive and see if the laptop behaves like that if it doesn't then you know the hard drive is bad. If it still does then it could be a motherboard problem.. With it making those beeping noises when you first turn it on, they keyboard could be going bad because that would make a laptop start beeping like that as well.

Black screen!

It sounds like a Back light failure. A good computer shop should be able to repair it. Also could be a screen failure. a lot of work for those who have not worked on these before. but its fixable!! find a local good shop :)

Computer turns on, but won't work afterwords

Hi,

Nev, the two loud beeping sound of the system when turning it on could be a problem with the memory or the system board.

Try disconnecting the power and take out the battery, then press and hold the power button for 5 seconds then look for the memory comparment and reseat it.

Keep me posted.

Thanks.
