Sony DCR DVD 108 camcorder "movie recording disabled" message

Hi,
I have a Sony DCR DVD 108 camcorder. Today I turned it on and I cannot record or view my videos on my disk. It says "Movie Recording Disabled" but I'm not even able to see what I previously recorded on the disk. What do I do?

I can view the recorded video on the camcorder but finalize button is disabled and I get the message "Movie Recording disabled".

I don't care about recording again but I just want to recover what ever has been recorded on the disc. Please help!!

SOURCE: Movie Recording Disabled

guys hope you all found the solution like me who had same issue. if you noticed, it says about the aspect ratio and that means the formated disc aspect ratio is not compatible with the aspect ratio your camera need. so re-formating the dvd with right aspect ratio solved the problem quickly and we have peace.

try to configure it on settings of your camcorder it must change the settings or maybe your inserting a wrong external cartridge. hope that helps!

I have the same problem.  If you have taken the disk out of the re-corder, then you can no longer finalize the disk...and you will potentially lose the data on the disk.  Their only solution was to take it to a professional media service and see if they could recover it...what a joke...at no point in the manual does it indicate that you cannot remove your disk or face the potential of losing your recording...I lost the recordings of the birth of my son...I will never forgive that...

SOURCE: DCR-DVD108 Problem

It's the disc not the camera......I purchased a 3 pack of Sony DVD-R discs. I put the first disc in and it recorded once. The next time I tried to record I got the message "movie recording disabled". After calling Sony, searching online, resetting the camera and reading through the manual I replaced the disc with another from the 3 pack and it is recording just fine. I read that recording straight to DVD has many problems, and I believe this is one of them. SONY SUCKS!!!!!

I have a sony dcr-dvd108. Can I get some help?

It sounds like your Sony DCR-DVD108 camcorder may have a problem with the battery or the power connection.
For the battery issue, you can try replacing the battery with a new one that is compatible with your camcorder. The Sony NP-FP50 or NP-FP70 are compatible batteries for your DCR-DVD108. You can purchase them online or from a camera store.
As for the "Movie Disabled" message, it may be caused by the type of disc you are using. The Sony DCR-DVD108 camcorder is compatible with DVD-R and DVD-RW discs, but it may not be compatible with all brands of discs. You may need to try using a different brand of disc to see if that resolves the issue.
Additionally, make sure that the camcorder is set to the correct recording mode, such as video mode, and that there is enough space on the disc to record the video. If none of these solutions work, there may be a problem with the camcorder itself, and it may need to be repaired or replaced.

Sony DCR-DVD403 C 13:02 Error Message so won't record movies.

Place an empty disc in, format the disc, record a little scene. Turn off camcorder. Place the error disc in the camcorder, turn on the camcorder all the way to play/edit. If this doesn't work turn it to record and try to record. Worked for some of my error disc
