I have a toshiba laptop a205 I have the usb adapter to hdmi cable hooked up to the tv I cant get picture or sound

First, you need to check the input setting on the TV (change it to HDMI and which HDMI because some TV have more than one HDMI input).
Second, please check the Output on the laptop (cycle it; laptop only, external monitor only, both of the screens).

Connect pc to toshiba 40bv700b television as a second monitor

The easiest way is just run a HDMI cable from your pc to the TV. Then just change the display settings on your PC to enable the second monitor feature. Change the TV input to the HDMI port that the PC is hooked up to. And you should be ready to go.

I have a Philips 47" flat screen it has HDMI

First of all you must check that your laptop supports a protocol called "DHCP" over DVI. Otherwise you are chasing your tail. This information will probably be in the manual or available online. DHCP is a special handshake protocol for HDMI and your television and computer will not talk to eachother without it. If you find it to be compatible you need to lock down which input on the TV it is. Plug something in via HDMI and verify you see it. Then unplug it and plug your computer into this port. You don't want to be flicking through inputs trying to find it. Also, hook up an external monitor to the laptop and figure what needs to be done to display on it. Then try the television. My guess, though, is that you won't find DHCP compatibility if it is an older laptop. My best advice is to buy a Playstation 3 and watch Netflix with that. Otherwise you'll need a different way of hooking up which might include buying an expensive converter box and/or watching poor quality video.
-Good luck

I want to connect my dell inspiron 1525 to my lcd hd ready tv but have no idea how to? Does anyone have any advice?

The 1525has a a hdmi port which you can plug a hdmi cord into. This may not support the audio. the tv and pc should detect the new monitor automatically or you may have to toggle it by hitting F4 key.

A205-s5812 toshiba i got a hard drive from anoter laptop try to install win 7 but the screen stay black

If the lights come on and all you get is a black screen there could 1 of 3 issues here
  1. Your LCD is dead
  2. Your graphics card or module could be dead
  3. your motherboard is damaged
There is a few things you can try doing this will knockout 2 and 3 if it works on the side of your laptop there will be a input port, it will have 15 holes in it this is called a vga port, most older computers used this port if you can get a buddys monitor you can hook your laptop to it and see if it will produce an image, if this is the case then your lcd is most likely the problem, try this if you get an image, we'll go from there.

I have a toshiba satellite m55-s135 and i just bought the cord to hook it up to my LG tv, but when i push input to pc, there is no signal, i have tried fn and f5, but nothing happens. What do i need to do?

Hi, since you connected a "Output Device" a [TV] to your Computer, its become another Monitor; so the Computer is trying to identify another Monitor being connected. This is what you need to do; (right click) on a [empty] area of the Desktop Screen, in the "shortcut" window, select the "Personalize," in the next window which should be the [Personalize and appearance...], select the "Display" applet, and open to the Display Setting window. Now since your "Primary Monitor is the Laptop, the "Secondary Monitor" will be the TV [ Monitor 2], click on the Identify Monitors. Next, once the Computer recognize the TV, click on the "Apply and OK buttons. Note: You may be required to "Restart the Computer for the effect to take properly." If all goes well; give the solution a "Helpful Rating," thanks.

How to use as monitor for laptop

i assume the TV has a VGA port (blue 15-pin) and that you're using a VGA cable.

the TV will usually have another A/V or input specifically for the VGA which can be called anything from "PC" to "other" make sure you've got that input selected

once you've got all that tell your PC to connect (button looks like a box with a line on each side) by pressing "fn" + "f4" if you have an HP...i think dell uses "fn" + "f8" i think Asus uses "fn" + "f5". (**usually if you press it once it will turn off your comp screen and transmit to tv, if you press a second time it will go back and if you press a third time it will tranmit to both at the same time)
if this is the first time you've connected your laptop to something it usually brings up a screen to configure some options like do you want to mirror the screen or use the tv as an extension of the screen.

hope this helps

I want to hook up a Toshiba laptop to a Panosonic rear projection

VGA, and supervideo only carry the visual signal, so if you use one of this cables, (both the computer and the tv have to have the same output/input) then you have to have a cable attached to the computers audio output to carry audio to the TV. If your computer has HDMI output and the tv has an HDMI input, then that carries both visual and audio. When you attach the video cable to the tv, put the tv on that input source and the computer will sense the device and if the drivers are updated will fire the signal up automatically and give you the choice of using only the tv, or using both the tv and laptop monitor.

Just turn the monitor off and on,,it should cure the problem,,also,,,tap the space bar on your laptop,,,,also,,you may want to change your settings on your laptop to prevent it going into sleep mode, or standby state,,which is what is causing this problem with your monitor.

How to use the TV out??

Hi,
The yellow out from laptop to t/v. is only any use if you have the 3 individual phono plugs, on the set. or an alternative 21 pin scart, with 3 phono-inputs. Red-White ( left/Right Sound ) And Yellow Picture.
Yet again it,s possibly lcd/vga button on laptop to switch.
check the laptop has no rear VGA Output. this may be your Only Way, due to low voltage output from Laptop.
The Toshiba 9000s+ can have daughterboard problems also, so i,d suggest trying to hook it up to another t/v set first. i.e portable or similar. Also check that the Laptop, will bring an external monitor on. Finally. check the T/V is correctly tuned in to receive the signal from Laptop.
