You need the pass key for the wireless network you're attempting to connect to in order to complete the connection. When you look at the available networks you'll find that the one you're attempting to connect to is "locked".

How do i connect to a wireless internet router

You need a cat 5 ethernet cable that goes from the uplink port to the router. The rest is wireless. Most routers offer cat 5 ports where you can plug a computer in. Dont use a telephone wire ... telephone wire is RJ 11 - you need a RJ-45 caat 5 cable. They look similar.

BTW, most wireless runs at about 10 - while wire runs at 100 or 1000.

You will need to run the wizard on your computer to detect ... and/or load the software that came with the router.

Wireless network detected not listed in view available wireless

Two things. First go into Device Manager and make sure the driver is loaded. Right click on Network Adapter, then right click on your wireless card. you can update driver, remove driver and let plug n play pick it back up, or if looks like no problems then leave it be. second, did you set it up going thru the Wireless Network Wizard..Its under Accessories>comminication in Windows XP.(You didn't indicate which OS you are using). What is probably happening is you are not quite set up correctly and your WEP is blocking you from connecting because the computer does not have your WEP key....if you have any questions let me know.

the freeze up problem is due to the limited HHD space or memories. please check your HHD and see how much free sapce you have, and check your memories. the base system came with 256MB, which is too little for anything to work porperly. for you to connected to teh wireless, you should have minimum 1GB of memories. some people may disagree with me, but that is what I found to work better, if you have more than required memories.

mostly the button is found on the left float side of your laptop 'IBM'. with two icons of a computer. please make sure that the button is on the side of the icon that shows a computer with weaves. so that your able to check the wireless access points you have in your range.
Wireless Connection:
Start > Control Panel > network connection>

Show network connections. If there is an X on wireless connection then connection is disabling and if no X then connection is enable.

make sure its enabled.

Right click on wireless network connection and click view available wireless networks.
You should see a list of available wireless networks

Then select the wireless network that you need to work on and click connect.

An icon in the lower right hand corner of your laptop should eventually appear stating that you are connected.
Then this will show you your wireless connection.

Excellent you connect to your wireless network.

This sounds to be a compatibility issue with either the wireless software or wireless card. Check to see if there are any updated drivers for the wireless card at IBM's support site. If there aren't any or the card still doesn't work after the updated drivers are installed, then you might try a different/newer internal wireless card, or a universal external wireless card for use with your home system.

Finding the wireless internet

Hi here is a tutorial how to connect up.. support.microsoft.com/kb/314897 One has to ensure that the wifi settings are all the same.. also the Logon & password must be entered as well as any WAP encrytion that maybe used.. It is a good idea to ask the person who administrates the WiFi at the hotel for the setting so you can access and logon to their network.
