I HAVE NO NEW XP WINDOWS RECOVERY CD FOR MY MEDION MIM2220 SO I CANT START WINDOWS , WHEN I TRY TO INSTALL FROM RESTART IT COME WITH THIS MESSAGE WHILE TRYING TO BOOT ( AN ERROR HAS BEEN ENCOUNTED THAT...

Do you have the original installation disk that came with the computer? You can try to boot from that CD and do a repair installation. The Cyclic Redundance Check (CRC) error refers to the media the computer is trying to access (either the CD or the hard drive). Try booting into Safe Mode (reboot and press F8 repeatedly until you get a boot menu). From Safe Mode run a checkdisk (chkdsk from command line) on the hard drive to find and repair any found disk issues.

You have two options to remedy the problem. You really need to access the computer in Safe Mode and view the System Logs to determine the offending piece of hardware or software or virus. But your real question is how to stop the reboot. Use the F8 Key during boot. Right after you turn the computer on, start hitting the F8 Key. The Windows Boot MEnu will appear. at this point you can do one of two things to try to fix the problem. You can enter the computer in Safe Mode which load Windows with only the minimal necessary hardware and software drivers. If you want to see the error message, choose option 8 which tells the computer not to automatically restart after an error. This will enable you to determine the error message on the screen and prevent the system from just going through an endless loop of starting, erroring-out and restarting..

F8 (during boot) Holding F8 when booting displays the Windows Boot Menu
SHIFT (during boot) Holding SHIFT down when booting forces Windows into Safe Mode

Let me know if I can be of any other assistance to you

Hello chiricoca, when you "Install Hareware" such as the {HDD}.

Any Microsoft Vista CD/DVD disk can be used to run the "repair" application,
or to totally re-install Windows, using the license-key on the decal on the side of your desktop computer (or on the bottom of your notebook computer).

How do I install Windows XP on my MPC computer?

Put the installation CD in the computer and reboot it. Be sure you got the drivers for the computer before you install the new OS. If the installation does'nt start by it self after reboot you need to shose "start from CD" as first boot option in BIOS.

Got following error: Load Error! Press any key to reboot

This problem is indeed caused by a faulty MBR but there are solutions other than zero-filling the drive.
If you can get access to a RipLinux CD there is a little utility called Testdisk that will write a new MBR code to the first block of the drive. I just did this on a Sony PCG-K15 this morning (after cloning the drive just to be safe) that was giving the same error of "LOAD ERROR- Press any key to reboot" and it worked like a charm. The machine booted right up.
Hope this helps...

Lost my CD-ROM

First I'll assume that by "reboot" you mean you had to "re-install" the operating system on the computer. Simply rebooting the computer doesn't mean you have to re-install the software.

I found the driver page for the Canon N656U scanner here:

<http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=351&modelid=8008>

You can download the equivalent software that was on the installation CD from there and re-install your software and driver that way.
